The power of meat in the human diet is undeniable. Meat is good for you; what is so unhealthy about it?!

Question: The power of meat in the human diet is undeniable!. Meat is good for you; what is so unhealthy about it!?
If meat wasn’t already a good naturally occurring food designed for our bodies, it wouldn’t be so hard to get what we need in vegetable form, such as B12!.

The fact is, meat is the most naturally occurring, well balanced and easily obtained and digested package of proteins, essential acids and source of iron and Vitamin B 12 that you can find!. Somehow you must find and consume all of the things that meat provides so that your body can stay healthy!. A meat based high protein diet is good for you!. Even vegetarians are realizing they need meat in their diet!

If fat concerns you, no worries - eat lean meat - and don’t forget to watch out for industrial grade vegetable fats -- hydrogenated and hydrogenized vegetable oils -- i!.e!. trans-fatty acids!

We need meat!. Like it or not, we are omnivores!. Though it’s true that like anything else, over indulgence can throw our diet out of balance if we go overboard!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
We do not need meat!. Generations of Hindu vegetarians prove that!. Statistics showing that vegetarians have lower instances of heart disease, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, strokes, diabetes, kidney disease, colon cancer and prostate cancer prove that!. We ARE biological omnivores, but we are perfectly able to thrive as herbivores!. The fact that some people choose to do so should be of little or no concern to you!.

Meat IS a good source of protein, iron, zinc and B vitamins!. But each of these nutrients is readily available in more than sufficient amounts in a wide variety of plant foods so there is no reason to consider meat some sort of superior food!. Even lean meat is chock full of cholesterol and heart-unhealthy saturated fats!. Vegetarians who avoid trans-fats are consuming almost exclusively heart-healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fats!. Protein is so much a non-issue for vegetarians that it's almost laughable that meat-eaters are so confused by it!. High protein diets can have devastating effects on one's health, causing excess work for the kidneys, leaching calcium from the bones and irritating the immune system!.

Go ahead and eat meat if you want, but don't try to convince educated vegetarians that they "need" meat!. It's profoundly untrue and, frankly, it's not your place to save us from ourselves!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the better question is hat isnt unhealthy about it!? only iggnorant sickos eat meatWww@FoodAQ@Com

As others have pointed out, we don't NEED meat to be healthy!. I'm not sure if you're really asking this question seriously!.

Perhaps you should do some reading and inform yourself before posting ignorant statements!.

By the way, even if you choose to eat meat, you actually do NEED to eat vegetables, fruits, and other plant foods to get all the nutrients and food factors you need!. You wouldn't eat just meat! And if you did, you would get pretty sick with some awful chronic disease like liver inflammation, kidney stones, cancer, diabetes, atherosclerosis, bowel cancer, for example!.

In response to another poster, vegetarians are not all extremists!. Another ignorant statement!. I just wonder why it is such an issue for some meat eaters that vegetarians don't eat meat! It is simply our choice!. Often, we have researched and come to the conclusion that it is best for our health and once we start, we feel the difference and stick to it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Are you seriously asking this question!?

Meat, being full of toxins, chemicals, cholesterol, and fats harms the body and in the long run, turns our body into a prison when it cannot function optimally!.

At the moment of the animal's death, they experience extreme sufferings from fear and pain, which will lead to a flood of toxins into their flesh!.

Don't forget that the animals are dosed with powerful drug so they grow bigger and faster!. The drug had make them suffer from heart attrack!.

How do you know that the meat you are consuming are from healthy and not already dead or animals free from all sort of diseases!? Some of the diseases suffered by the animals are not being detected prior to being slaughter, so when we consume meat, we are inherit the it indirectly!.

There is animal proteins and plant protein and remember that over dose of proteins is BAD for the body, it leads to kidney problem, kidney stone etc!. For plant protein, soybean is contains all the essentials of amino acides!. B12 from yeast and other non-animals sources can solve the problem!.

So why risk your life eating meat!? Vegetarianism is not something new, it had few thousands years of history!. If it is that bad, there won't be any vegetarians on earth at all : )Www@FoodAQ@Com

We can eat meat, but we don't NEED it to be healthy!. We need protein and iron, and many vegetarian foods are high in those nutrients!. Here's a list: http://www!.tryveg!.com/cfi/toc/!?v=08sourc!.!.!.

Tons and tons of people in India have been vegetarian since birth; they're living examples that meat isn't necessary for good health!. I dated a vegan who was raised vegan from birth and he's one of the most athletic guys I've known!. I also know a vegan bodybuilder who works as a personal trainer!. He has competed in a triathlon and a half-marathon!. Try telling him that he needs meat! :)

The American Dietetic Association is one of the nation's leading nutrition experts!. It says that "vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases!.!.!.!.Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer!."

It doesn't take "intense discipline and good luck" to be healthy on a vegetarian diet!. To be healthy, a person just needs to eat enough calories and include a normal variety of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains in his/her diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

All the good answers have been taken so I'll just summarize my opinions here!.

It has been proven through scientific evidence and life-long specimens that one can be vegetarian and live a healthy life!. Eating meat and dairy can be beneficial in small doses but any more risks cancer and various other diseases!.

It is actually more efficient for the world's human population to be vegetarian!. To grow meat requires huge amounts of food and water that could have been fed to humans in the first place!. Cows pollute the environment with methane and degrades the land they live on!.

To not eat meat is in the best interests of the animals, the environment and the people!. To argue against these facts is folly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I in no way want to argue with anybody!. Yes, I am vegan and there are many reasons for this!. Everybody is entitled to their opinion!. However, I would just like to make a point!.

You said this ---"If meat wasn’t already a good naturally occurring food designed for our bodies, it wouldn’t be so hard to get what we need in vegetable form, such as B12!."

B12 is a bacteria that is produced in the GI tract!. Humans actually produce this, but it is produced too far down to actually be absorbed!. So where do animals get their B12!? They eat grass, grains, water, etc that are tainted with bacteria!. Before we were incredibly selfish and polluted the earth, humans could obtain B12 in the same way!. Now we have to filter our dirty water, wash our vegetables thoroughly, etc!. That's why eating animal products has become one of the main methods to obtain B12 in the modern day diet!. Does that mean that we are supposed to eat meat for B12!? No, not in my opinion!. We've had to create different ways of getting that because of our thoughtless actions in our world!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There's no question meat is a important part of our diet!. We are omnivores-- there's no denying it!. People who say otherwise are kidding themselves!. The only argument against meat is that people, especially in the U!.S!. tend to eat way too much and are out of balance in their diet!.

*****EDIT********

No Gabriell-- vegetarians DON'T realize it!. They're part of the crowd who are kidding themselves!. Vegetarians are EXTREMISTS who cherry-pick the problems associated with excessive meat consumption and attribute them to meat in general!. Never do you hear them pointing out the malnutrition problems like anemia associated with excessive vegetarianism!.

*******EDIT**********

The thing you can count on with vegetarians is-- no matter how much sense you make about the benefits of meat-- you will be thumbed down!. At least they're consistent!. Probably the most brainwashed bunch in the western world!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

many vegetarians say that people who eat meat smell bad!.
But other than that I have found no reliable data saying that vegetarian diets are better than regular diets!. Personally, I like meat, it tastes good, is chock full of nutrients and is in ready supply!.
I have heard rumors that humans are not made to eat meat (outright lie) that our digestive system can't handle it (wrong) and that we would look healthier if we didn't eat meat (false)
So basically there is no biological reason to reject meat!.
It's a personal preference of some
I believe they are entitled to their preference, just like I am entitled to eat meatWww@FoodAQ@Com
