What is a balanced vegetarian meal?!


Question: What is a balanced vegetarian meal!?
Okay so I have made the conscious decision to be a vegetarian for the sake of losing weight!. I understand that excluding meats you are losing some nutrients your body needs like protein!. What are substitutes for proteins!. And how do I have a balanced meal from eating vegetarian!.
also do you also think I should try vegan instead of vegetarian!? If so how can I substitute for the nutrients found in dairy!?
Lastly if I were eating a pepperoni pizza and I just take out the pepperoni is that what vegetarians do!? Or do they just not eat it because it has come in contact with meat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

What you will be missing out on by no longer eating flesh foods are the growth hormones, antibiotics, and steroids that the animals on feed lots are laden with!. Protein in not the issue!. Everything contains proteins!. Vitamin B12 is the issue and it is available in abundance in Nutritional Yeast and Tempeh!.

Balanced meals are meals with salads and a mixture of both raw and cooked vegetables as well as a "protein" -- tofu, tempeh, seitan or one of the faux meats, or some protein complementarity of beans/legumes/nuts and seeds, and grains or grains and dairy!. Fish are not scaly veggies and chicken are not feathered ones; and certainly the pork in the pepperoni came from a pig not a pepper or an eggplant!. Becoming a vegetarian for the sake of losing weight is not a very good reason!. General health benefits, allergies, taste, ethics/morality, philosophy, karma, environment, animal welfare and religion are much better reasons, and also more likely to ensure that your vegetarianism continues more than just a week or two!. The only reasons for becoming vegetarian that are worse than "losing weight" are just to be either "fashionable" or "rebellious"!.

Cutting out animal products is not, in itself, going to help you to lose weight!. You'd also need to cut back on the junkfood or comfort-food, like pizza, potato chips, ice cream, fizzy softdrinks, etc!. Basically, you start to lose weight when the calories that you expend (through exercise, for example) exceed the calories that you are taking in via food and drink!.

Become a vegetarian, by all means, but don't become a junkfood vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Adopting a vegan diet would be healthier, but don't try to make the change all at once!. Its easier to make the change gradually!. Practically every food has protein in it, even fruit to a small degree!. Protein rich plant foods would be:

Soy products (tofu, tempeh)
Beans (pretty much every kind)
Nuts (every kind)
Peanut butter
Whole grains (decent amount of protein)

The nutrients in meat would be iron and vitamin B12!. You can get iron from lots of plant sources, like raisins, chick peas, whole grain bread, oatmeal, and fortified cereal and soy milk!. Vitamin B12 can be obtained from nutritional yeast, sea vegetables, fermented soy products, and fortified cereal and soy milk!.

About the pizza!.!.!. I wouldn't eat it if it had meat on it, but thats just me!. I can't stand eating food that has been cooked with meat!.!.!. the taste rubs off and it grosses me out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

first of all you cannot use vegetarianism for the sake of weight loss, its a lifesyle that you have to be commited too

vegan is up to you, they make many soy or rice substitutes, many of which you can find at your local grocery store

i would not eat pizza that has once been tainted with slaughted pig, thats not only hypocritical in a way but its very gross

for a good balanced meal try morningstar meat substitutes found in the frozen section, they have TONS of great options that taste very close to meat with none of the crulety!. of course stock up on fruit and veggies!. fruit smoothies are a great treat! eggplant can be substituted for meat when cooking in many mealsWww@FoodAQ@Com

first!. becoming VEGAN is not easy to stick with and is not necessary for losing weight or eating healthy!. In most cases it is a moral decision but I would at least try vegetarian first!.

in addition!. substitutes for protein are beans and legumes, dairy, nuts, some whole grains, tofu!. you go about having a balanced meal the same way one who eats meat does!. eat a lot of the good stuff (fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, good carbs) and not so much of the other stuff (fats, nuts, dairy)

if you're trying to lose weight!.!.!.don't eat pizza very often!. but, if you were a vegetarian you would order a cheese or vegetable pizza!. you would absolutely not pick off meat and consider that pizza to be vegetarian!. not to mention that for your case you would have all of the fat from pepperoni on the pizza still!.

also!. you will never lose weight permanently or become truly healthy without the combination of EXERCISE and a HEALTHY DIET!.
