I'm considering becoming a vegan/vegetarian.?!
I hope this isn't a stupid question, but what is the exact difference between the two terms!.!?
Does anyone know where I can find tips, recipes, or useful information!.!?
also, if any vegan/vegetarians out there have words of wisdom, that would be much appreciated!.
Thanks, All (:Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarianism is just a change you make in your diet!. A decision to not eat meat!.
With veganism, you have to change your whole lifestyle!. You can't wear leather or use any products that conatin any animal byproduct or that was tested on animals!.
Tips for going vegetarian!:
-Alternative meats are the way to go for protein!. At health foods stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joes you can find vegetarian hamburger patties, ground hamburger, chicken nuggets, chicken patties, bbq riblets, sausage, and a lot lot more!. You can find a lot of this at your normal grocery store too!.
-If you're constantly tired, you're low on protein!.
-If you're eyes look funny, like they have a yellowish tint to them, you're low on iron!. Iron vitamins are really small and really cheap!. Or, spinach! Best in salads!. =]
-If you're hair is thinning or falling out, you're low on vitamin D, which usually means that you're calcium isn't being fully absorbed, either!. Start buying OJ with extra calcium in it, as OJ is also a good source of v D and the two work well together!.
Tips for going vegan!:
-Never trust ingredients labels!. I know they're supposed to put everything on there, but they don't!. If you're not sure if something is vegan, just don't eat it for now and check the web later!. You can always come on y!a and ask! =]
-The most rediculous things have animal byproducts in them (like some sodas) so it helps to do research on EVERYTHING!.
-Pita bread is vegan and hummus is a good source of protein, so it's always nice to have those two things in the kitchen to make a quick meal!.
-Always have carrot sticks in your backpack in case you get hungry!.
-Everything by Avon is vegan and reasonably priced!. =]
And just FYI, there's also other options other than just vegetarianism and veganism for you to consider!. Other popular options:
Pescetarianism- you eat no meat but fish!.
Pollotarianism- you eat no meat but fowl and poultry!.
These are not considered vegetarian, obviously, as you are still eating some meat, but it's a step, right!?
Good luck with your decision!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegans do not consume anything that was derived from an animal including fish, dairy and eggs!.
Vegetarians can eat dairy and eggs but DO NOT eat fish!. It is important to note that there is no such thing as a vegetarian that eats fish!. Pescatarians are people that only eat fish and not other meats but they are not vegetarian!.
Those are the differences!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have been vegan for 6 months now!. I started it to lose weight, but somewhere along the way it changed my life forever!. All of my health issues went away and I have a new awareness about the environment and animal rights!. It is the single best decision I have ever made in my life!.Go vegan for life! Treat yourself to the best food that nature has to offer and you will always maintain your ideal weight and never have to feel hungry!. Plus you will sleep great at night knowing that you did not contribute to the torture and killing of innocent animals!. For the first couple of weeks nothing tasted good to me, I missed what I thought to be great tasting foods!. But then my taste buds started adjusting to veggies!.!. It really helped when I discovered this website:

I have purchased a dozen vegan cookbooks, but I always come back to this girl!. She has got it going on! The Venetian Veggie Burgers are out of this world!. I stopped buying the ones in the stores because hers are so much better!. I cook a double batch and put them between wax paper and freeze them!. Make a sandwich with tomato, onion, vegan cheese, hummus, grape seed mayonnaise or just about anything you like!. There are many meat substitutes on the market, I use a lot of seitan, tofu and textured soy protein in place of meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't have the guts to get a tattoo, huh!. OK, here is the difference!. First there were vegetarians and then they weren't getting the attention they wanted, so they became vegans because celbs became them!. They want to follow what celbs do so they switched!. They still wear leather, cause the celbs do they just won't eat them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
vegans eat no animal or animal byproduct while vegetarians eat dairy products and sometimes even fish!. Some vegans even wont eat food produced from companies that use animals in other products in the manufacturing of products!.!.!.such as leather belts on machineryWww@FoodAQ@Com
My words of wisdom, not entirely my own!. If you can't go cold turkey do it little by little!. If you are committed to it, you'll get there, either way!.
