Vegetarian and vegan help?!

Question: Vegetarian and vegan help!?
I want to go vegetarian!. I decide that I am going to avoid all meat and cheese and try to avoid milk!. I watched a video on the PETA site that made me realize that animals shouldnt have to die on my behalf!. How they treat the animals is wayyy wrong!. I am mainly looking to cut out all meat out of my diet, but want to quit cheese and milk also!. So I have a couple questions that I was wondering about and any help will be great!.

1!. What are some good foods to buy at the store that are Vege!?
2!. How hard is it!?
3!. What are some pro's and con's about it!?
4!. And how can I get everyone to take me serious and have faith in me and support me!?
5!. What are some recipe's or things to eat that you would recommmend!?
6!. What is a good way to start, like should I go cold turkey!? Or would it be okay to still drink a little milk!.

I know that it is alot but thanks in advance for all the help =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
1!. Obviously, you need:
Beans such as; kidney, black, pinto, garbonzo(chickpeas)!.
Nuts such as cashews, and almonds, walnuts!.
Legumes such as peanuts!.
Vegetables like sweet potatoes, broccoli, spinach, romaine lettuce are very nutrient dense, and get whatever else you like!.
Fruit such as oranges, blueberries, and grapefruit, whatever you like!.
Then there's the other things like fake meats!. I really like gardenburger brand, as well as boca, and schneiders Oh Naturel!. You find your own tastes!.
You can buy tofu, too!. It has zero flavour on its own by I like to fry it with mixed spices and veggies, put in stirfries, and even smoothies!. If you;re going vegan, I strongly suggest Ener-G egg replacer and your choice of soy, almond, rice, hemp, oat, or multigrain milk!. I like soy, personally!.

2!. Honey, it really is not hard at all!. I ate meat my entire life, and I went vegetarian overnight!. There isnt anything to miss with all the yummy fake meats they have available nowadays!. Especially with the "milks" and "eggs", too!.

3!. Pros - Meat contains antibiotics, hormones, cholesterol, and is laden with saturated fat!. So is dairy! Animals are kept in very dirty and cruel conditions, too, so theres a clear conscience for ya!. (Dairy industry and veal industry go hand in hand!. Baby cows are taken from their mother at birth and slaughtered!.)
Cons - You might have to be more careful about what you eat, and sometimes eating out will be a hassle, and I know this sounds bad but it can get on peoples nerves!. Dont let anyone get you donw though, you're still healthier!.

4!. Don't let anyone influence your decisions!. When I turned vegan, everyone was telling me I will be ill and malnourished!. They were wrong! Honestly, you can't care what others think!. This is YOUR life, YOUR body, so let anyone put you down!. If anyone can't accept your dietary choices/lifestyle, than maybe they arent really your friends!.

5!. Well, my favorite recipe of all time is hummus! Its so good!.!. I love it with tortilla chips! =)
Heres my favorite recipe:

2 cups canned chick peas, drained or the same amount fresh cooked
2/3 cup tahini
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 cloves mashed garlic
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cumin
parsley for garnish
olive oil (however much til the right consistency, can also drizzle over the top)

I like bean burgers too, like:

1 398 mL/14 oz Western Family canned kidney beans, rinsed, drained
125 mL Western Family old fashioned oats 1/2 cup
125 mL finely chopped fresh mushrooms 1/2 cup
125 mL finely chopped onion 1/2 cup
1 medium carrot, grated
125 mL finely chopped, seeded, red bell pepper 1/2 cup
2 garlic cloves, minced
30 mL Western Family salsa (mild, medium or hot) 2 tbsp
1 mL freshly ground black pepper 1/8 tsp

And heres a vegan eggnog, I made last christmas!

2 10-oz packages silken regular or low-fat tofu
16 oz!. vanilla vegan soymilk
1 tablespoon plus 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup vegan sugar
2 tablespoon brown vegan sugar
1/4 tablespoon ground tumeric
1/2 to 1 cup rum or brandy
nutmeg to taste

My favorite veg websites are:
http://www!.vegweb!.com
http://www!.vegcooking!.com
http://www!.vegetarianteen!.com
http://www!.veganchef!.com
http://www!.fatfreevegan!.com
There are so many more, too!

6!. It's all a matter of choice, you decide what is right for you!. Personally, I thought it was easier to go cold turkey!. Try both ways, if you want!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Make sure you get rid of all of your leather and silk as well, that comes from animals!. Oh, some make-up and perfume has animal products as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

1!. If you decide to go veggie, it makes things a little easier than going vegan!. You can eat products that have egg or dairy in them as you choose!. If you decide to go vegan, here is a list of items in the grocery store that are vegan and a lot more companies are now putting on labels!. http://www!.peta!.org/accidentallyVegan/
2!. How hard it is depends on you!. Truly, a combination of your ambition, your body makeup, values, what you grew up eating, etc!. If you want it bad enough, you'll make it work!. It took about 3 months for me to finally get over the drama of going veggie to vegan!. Vegetarian was easy for me!.
3!. If done properly, a vegetarian diet is full of pros and very few cons!. You can't eat everything you used to or want some times!. You may have to deal with non-veggies and their!.!.!.issues!. You have to adjust to your new lifestyle!.!.!.things like that are cons!. Watch what you eat and make sure you're getting your nutrients is important!. Check out the FDA's site on vegetarianism if you get the chance!.
4!. You can be educated on the subject, stay healthy, and be confident!. People still may not take you seriously!. But, it's your life!.
5!. You can find a lot of free recipes!.!.!.ALL OVER THE INTERNET!. also, books- whole veggie book shelves at book stores!.
6!. I went cold turkey- thanks to a PETA vid as well!. But, you should do what is comfy!. Try losing a type of meat a week!.!.!.etc!. Whatever works!. = )Www@FoodAQ@Com

1!. Tofu, veggie burgers, lots of beans!.!.!.there are tons of great meatless products!.!.!.my favorite brands are yves, boca, and health is wealth!.
2!. Not hard at all!.!.!.!.just be creative!. there are tons of great websites!.!.!.!.try goveg!.com and vrg!.org!. There are super recipes on those sites!
3!. Pros - save the poor animals! Red meat isn't really good for people and you will end up eating more whole foods which are better for you!. Cons - harder to get your reccomended dose of protein (and calcium if you go vegan)
4!. Just don't eat meat!. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, just stick to what you believe in!.
5!. Check out the 2 websites I reccomended for recipes!
6!. I would say start off going vegetarian!.!.!.a vegan diet is really restrictive (no animal by products at all)

Good luck!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

1!. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's both cater to vegetarians and have a lot of selections!.
2!. Pretty difficult at first, but after the first month or so it gets so much easier!.
3!. Pros are the basic health benefits, staying thinner, etc!. Cons are it's harder to get calcium (if you're giving up milk, especially if you're a woman, sorry didn't see you picture can't recall if you are) and protein and other nutrients it was easier to get from the foods you gave up!.
4!. Well there are always people who are going to think you're doing it as a joke and not support you or take you seriously, but all you can do is explain your reason for being a vegetarian and hope they are supportive!.
5!. Well my favorite meal is crushed tomatoes (sauteed in virgin olive oil and a little garlic) and put with musscoucholi (not sure if I spelled that right) and a little basil!. It's a very good salad type thing!. But peta2!.com has a lot of good recipes and you can find a ton if you just google vegetarian recipes!.
6!. It would be fine to drink a little milk!. Take is slowly, especially if you're a little younger (like 14-15) it'll be easier that way and easier for people to accept your decision!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
