What has been your most difficult moment?!
What was the most difficult experience or hurdle that you've had to overcome to be a vegetarian or vegan!? Did you ever have times when you doubted your choice!?
My most difficult experience was giving up being veg during college because I had a hard time getting a good range of foods (I didn't have access to a kitchen, just the campus dining area)!. I felt so guilty about it!.!.!.!.I ate meat for one more year and then went back to veg when I graduated!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

In boot camp in the Army we'd have field exercises where we'd be marching or just out on the target practice field for the entire day, from sun up to sun down!. They'd bring food from chow hall in and it was always non-vegetarian - there'd typically be some sort of meat, a side dish (usually rice or potatoes) and limp iceberg lettuce and dressing, and sometimes they had bread!.
I'd just take everything they offered and swap my meat for someone's bread; most people didn't want their whole wheat bread or their rice so I'd fill up on them, but the lack of choices wasn't exactly easy!. But I valued being a soldier over being a vegetarian and I didn't complain!.!.!. my fellow soldiers in Iraq were living off of an MRE every 2 -3 days, carrying 80 pounds of gear in broiling 120*F heat!. I wouldn't deserve my rank if I were to complain about having to eat nothing but six slices of bread for lunch, LOL!.
Thankfully, chow hall had plenty of veg food, including a salad bar with lots of beans and veggies, and one of my drill sergeants was really cool and let me put a few scoops of mixed nuts into a plastic bag and carry it around next to my canteen around my waist!. Plus days we ate MRE's guaranteed that there'd be the 2-4 vegetarian MRE's in each box that nobody wanted to touch but me!.!.!. I'd be trading stuff like a nasty cold salisbury steak in gray, stinky gravy for penne and marinara, biscuits and peanut butter, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm still at school but when i first started to go vegan that was difficult!.like at the end of term the teachers would hand out chocolate, and i would say no i don't eat chocolate!.the teacher looked at me like i was some freak!.and wearing costumes in drama i would not ware leather or silk etc!. also in cooking i had to cook something totally different that the others!.and in the lunch hall everyone thought that i was a freak because i didn't eat the same as them!. and on school trips too
but those things died off and mostly everyone understands what and why i am veganWww@FoodAQ@Com

the most difficult moment i had so far was having to send back a steak and grilled salmon at an office party at the boss's country club!. to be honest it made me feel like an asshole!. generally any catered event like that where i am the only vegetarian tends to make me uneasy, weather the caterers have been informed and have one special meal for me or if they havent and i have to send something back, it is just socially awkward!. but i dont doubt my choice, it has helped me in so many ways!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Interesting!. I used to feel left out at school, I never thought I was ''normal'' like the other kids!. I got teased at school for being ''different'', and I felt pretty bad!. But as I got older, I realised (with the help of some good friends) that I'm unique, not ''different''!.
At times I sometimes felt lonely!. I guess when you're a vegetarian/vegan, you can feel quite isolated!. But just remember that there is a community of like minded people who are very supportive of you- that is your loved ones in 'real life' and us on Yahoo!
