I heard in the news they were intending to include animal products!.!.but then this was decided against!.!.but the other day I heard they were going to use it!.!.Whey I think it was!.!.maybe!.!.!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
it was animal rennet!. they chose to do this last year, and reversed the decision based on a campaign started by the veggie society!.

at the time, masterfoods said "we believe many vegetarians are happy to eat animal-based slaughter by-products as sub-ingredients adnwil be happy with our changes"

At that point, i lost any trust in the brand, they don't even know what a veggie is

So, with that in mind, i wouldn't put it past them to make yet more wrong decisions or statements!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mars planned to use rennet in its Mars Bars, but vegetarians protested and the company changed its plans!. So the bars are suitable for vegetarians!. http://www!.bbc!.co!.uk/worldservice/learni!.!.!.

However, many people are boycotting Mars because the company funds cruel animal tests: http://marscandykills!.com/

"Mars recently funded a deadly experiment on rats to determine the effects of chocolate ingredients on their blood vessels!. Experimenters force-fed the rats by shoving plastic tubes down their throats and then cut open the rats' legs to expose an artery, which was clamped shut to block blood flow!. After the experiment, the animals were killed!. Mars has also funded cruel experiments in which mice were fed a candy ingredient and forced to swim in a pool of a water mixed with white paint!. The mice had to find a hidden platform to avoid drowning, only to be killed and dissected later on!. In yet another experiment supported by Mars, rats were fed cocoa and anesthetized with carbon dioxide so that their blood could be collected by injecting a needle directly into their hearts, which can lead to internal bleeding and other deadly complications!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

This issue comes up all the time in more foods than vegetarians realize!. It really can be pretty gross!. Here are some of the foods that seem vegetarian but actually use animal products:

* jello, marshamallows, and anything containing gelatin (made from cartilage and other tissues)
* string cheese and many other cheeses (created or softened using enzymes scraped from the inside of animal stomaches)
* strawberry or any other red yogurt, and many red foods (contains carmine - a coloring made from ground up bugs!. this one is particularly gross because it's considered "natural coloring")

This link lists a lot of animal ingredients:

I wondered why there's no green V on it though, but I thought they don't put it on sweets anymore!.

edit: what about Twix and the other stuff!?!?

Thank God, lala
wow orange, I had no idea about those experiments!. I'll tell as many people as possible about this!. I'll never buy a Mars Bar again!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They switched to using Rennet in their recipe!. However, there was a vegetarian uproar and as far as I know they have now switched back and are vegetarian again!. This is in the UK though!. Check the ingredients to be sure!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
