I heard that if you eat egg, then you are not considered a vegetarian. Is this true?!

Question: I heard that if you eat egg, then you are not considered a vegetarian!. Is this true!?
Answers:
Not true at all!. Most vegetarians are lacto-ovo, meaning they consume eggs and dairy products, but not meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As with many things, it depends on who you ask!. Certain animal or insect by-products (milk, eggs, honey, etc) are allowed by some vegetarians but not by others!.

Typically a "pure" vegetarian diet is called Vegan!. The only mandatory requirement of a true vegetarian diet is no animal flesh (although I have heard some people in common usage refer to themselves as "vegetarians who eat fish", etc!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not true

"vegetarian" is generally short for "lacto-ovo vegetarian" which is defined as someone who eats NO meat (fish is meat, BTW) but DOES consume dairy or eggs, on the reasoning that an animal does not directly have to die so I can eat an egg or drink it's milk!.

BTW, anyone who says eggs are a "chicken abortion" "A developing chick" or "chicken fetus" need a biology lesson!.!. Commerical eggs are unfertilized, meaning, they were not exposed to sperm!. it takes both egg AND sperm to create life!.!. A 14 year old virgin girl is not having a "miscarriage" every month when her body sheds an unfertilized egg!.

VEGANS are defined as those who eat/use NOTHING that comes from an animal!. This inlcudes meat, milk, eggs, and often honey, leather, wool, and products tested on animals!.

The EASIEST way I know to explain what a VEGETARIAN (meaning, lacto-ovo vegetarian) will or will not eat is to ask myself the following simple question:

"Did an animal (any living thing that is NOT a plant) have to die so I could eat that!?"

if the answer is yes, a vegetarian won't eat it
if the answer is no, a vegetarian will eat it!.

That's why people who eat fish, shrimp, insects, any seafood do NOT fit the definition of "vegetarian"!.!. because fish, shrimp, etc are animals, not plants!.!. Vegetarians do not eat animals!.!.

Again, they DO consume things like Dairy and eggs, that animals PRODUCE but do not have to DIE to produce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I consider myself a vegetarian and I do not eat meat!. I eat low cholesterol eggs and egg beaters!.
I many veggie, tofu products but I also eat some seafood, the only hard fast rule i have is " No Meat!."
Anything else is fair game for me!.!.!.!.

I believe it is a Vegan that won't eat meat and / or animal products / by products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

think about it!. If you're pro-life, surely you believe that the egg is in fact a small chicken, and therefore classed as meat!.

Whereas i'm pro-choice, and i eat eggs because i believe that you're not alive until you're born!.

I wonder how many hypocrites are both pro-life vegetarian and eat eggs!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

No it isn't!.!. because vegetarians don't eat meat only!.
but vegans are the ones who don't eat anything from animalia kingdom!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if your a vegetarian you can eat eggs!.a vegan cant eat eggsWww@FoodAQ@Com

eggs are not for vegans, but alright for most vegetarians!. There are those who have milk-products and eggs, some even have fish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. Vegetarians can eat eggs and products with eggs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eggs are suitable for vegetarians!.

Eggs are NOT suitable for vegans!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no vegetarians usually eat eggs!. vegans do not!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Where did you hear that!? Eggs are not slaughtered flesh!.!.they are a discarded ovum!.!.nothing alive about them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no its only bad if you consider yourself a veganWww@FoodAQ@Com

Vegan is what you are looking for!. Vegans don't eat animals or animal b-products!. You can be a vegetarian and eat egg, in fact you can eat seafood as well and it's a great source of protein!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I may be wrong but I think vegatarians dont eat any animal products, Which i think is personally stupid because meat tastes so F-in delecious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
