Is the glue on the back of postage stamps vegan?!

Question: Is the glue on the back of postage stamps vegan!?
Answers:
Hey Charlie, definitely an interesting question! Made me look!

The answer I found is: "Maybe!."

Check it out:
"Adhesives suitable for stamps are gum arabic and dextrin, for example!. The artificial adhesives have the property of needing little water for moistening to obtain their maximum adhesive power within a very short time!. Other possible adhesives are animal or fish glue, for example!."

Great question!Www@FoodAQ@Com

These days, stamps have a tacky backing like a sticker, no licking needed!. These must be some very old stamps you've got!. Unfortunately, I don't know if the glue is vegan, but I don't see why it wouldn't be!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They stopped using horses for glue making back in the 1960's!.

Most glues are veg based or a non animal based one!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Seeing as how it's been years since I bought stamps you had to lick, I've never given this a moment's thought!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, and that is why they are self-stick and have been for years -- Silly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
