What to grill at a vegan BBQ?!
I became a Vegan about a month ago!. I want to have BBQ but not everyone is a vegan that will attend!. I typically grill veggies and sometimes fruit!. Corn on the cob will be good!. I'm not a big fan of "fake meats"!. Any other ideas of what to throw on the grill that will make everyone happy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Whatever you grill- mushrooms, veggie burgers, veggies, on the side, serve this salad:
4 cups cooked cous cous or rice
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can whole kernal corn, drained
1 cup mild salsa
1/2 cup vegan salad dressing ( like miracle whip)
1/2 cup chopped cilantro
mix all together, add salt and pepper to taste and chill for at least an hour!.
Corn on the cob with a lime chili spread would be perfect with this!Www@FoodAQ@Com

First of all congratulations on making the choice to go vegan!
Grilling is a favorite past time of mine!. There is just something primal about putting food to flame that speaks to nearly everyone, and vegans are no exception! Try marinating some big, juicy portabello mushrooms in olive oil and balsamic vinegar along with basil and oregano for a nice 'steaky' main dish or serve it up on a bun for a delicious sammich!.
Grilled veggies skewers are also something that everyone can enjoy, and are super simple; just grab you favorite veggies (such as onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, etc), stick 'em on a metal or wooden skewer (make sure to soak the skewer in water if using wooden, this helps keep them from catching on fire), and toss 'em on the grill!
also, dont forget about non-grilled sides! Potato salad is a B-B-Q veteran, and is easily made vegan! Just substitute mayo for an eggless mayo such as Vegenaise! Chips and salsa are a good bet too-or consider getting adventurous and making some vegan spinach artichoke dip:
6 oz fresh spinach
6 oz jar artichoke hearts
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1 tsp veg broth powder (or veg!. chicken broth powder)
1/4 -1/2 cup rice milk
2 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp salt
pepper to taste
olive oil
Heat a few tbsps of olive oil in pan!. Saute spinach and garlic until spinach is wilted!. Remove from pan into food processor or chopper and add in the artichoke hearts!. Process until well chopped!. Put back into pan!. Add yeast, broth powder, flour, sald and pepper!. Mix together well!. Turn the heat on and add the rice milk, cook to thicken to desired consistency!.
Most of all - have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Definitely all sorts of veggies and fruits, some made into kabobs!. Brush the corn cobs with olive oil, sprinkle on some seasonings, wrap in foil, and then stick on the grill!. You can make a pasta salad with all sorts of veggies and a homemade dressing!. Do chips/crudites and dips!.
I know you don't care for analogues, but if you're catering to omnivores, you might want something to ensure they don't miss the meat!. I know, it's silly, but I like veggie burgers at a cookout, too!. But you can get or make your own veggie burgers and grill them!. Get some vegan sausages or veggie dogs!. You don't have to eat them if you don't like them, but your guests will probably like them!. If you have leftover analogues, send them home with your guests!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You most certainly do not have to buy and grill meat to make your non-Veg friends happy!. That is ridiculous and goes against everything you probably stand for if you are a Vegan!. There are tons of fabulous Vegan/Vegetarian BBQ recipes out there on the Internet!. also, even though you say you're not a fan of fake meats, have you tried Gardenburger's Riblets!? They are FABULOUS! I've never met a meat-eater who didn't fall in love with them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you have a hood on your BBQ or better still a Weber, you could make up a Ratatouille!.!. It is not just for vegans, it is for meat eaters also!.!.I will give you the recipe :-
Aussie Ratatouille in a Weber, or BBQ Kettle as you may call it!.!.
(Normal fire, indirect, 30-40 minutes with lid on)
Serves 8
2 tablespoons oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1 eggplant
125g mushrooms, sliced
1 cup tomato spaghetti sauce
1 red pepper, sliced ( capsicum)
250g zucchini, thickly sliced
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon oregano
salt & pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients together in a large drip tray!.!.!. Cover it loosly with foil!.!.Cook on the BBQ for 30-40 minutes with lid on, stirring occasionally!.!.
That recipe is only a guide, you can add or delete anything you like, also I know they are very under quantity with it, who ever heard of putting 1/4 teaspoon of oregano in anything, you would never know it was there!.!.!.

I think it is important to remember that vegans and vegetarians are not rabbits and that we all need protein!.
Your non-veg friends are definitely going to be looking for something substantial also!. So perhaps, you can put together a delicious BBQ Marinade and let your veggie chunks and slices work for a while in it along with some Tempeh Cubes, or Seitan Chunks!. Then thread them onto soaked bamboo skewers!. I would use Red or Yellow or Orange and Green Bell Peppers, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Red Onion, Pineapple Chunks, Button Mushrooms, and Cherry or Cocktail Tomatoes with Peppers at each end in addition to the Tempeh or Seitan !.Then grill them!. Mmm Yum!
also serve some Potato or Pasta Salad and Baked Beans!. Grilled Corn on the cob can be nice too but be sure to soak them well so that they grill and do not burn!.
Have fun!. It sounds great!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
