Want to become vegetarian?!
Ok, so my mum and sister claim to be veggies but I'm really not sure why, they aren't strict, they don't check all food for animal products etc its a bit confusing anyways!! I am 21 and just saw something awful on tv, I love animals and to be honest I didn't realise the extent, in my module at uni I studied animal welfare and again I am horrified!. I just want to know how to get started!? I only really eat chicken but alot of dairy and I was wondering are there any sites that give you lists of food and hints etc!?!? I know its a lot harder than just a case of right i'm giving up meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't make the mistake of thinking veganism or vegetarianism is hard, because it's not!. Get started by looking up the vegan food pyramid to make sure that you know how much you should get to be healthy and then go from there!. You can make substitutes of everything that you eat that's meaty or cheesy right now, and you can use simple recipes like miso, stir-fry, veggie burgers, etc!. until you learn how to make stuff on your own!. You can get a veg cookbook and everything, but like I said, I suggest you start out by googling the vegan food pyramid and going from there!.

It depends!. Vegans eat no eggs/no dairy products!. Regular vegetarians can eat both!. Start by cutting meat products out of your diet!. You can be as strict as you like!. One important thing to remember is you need to get enough protein in your diet!. You can get protein from soy products, such as tofu and another great source of protien are beans!. also, if you decide to cut dairy out of your diet you need to take a calcium supplement to promote good bone health!.

Becoming a vegetarian isn't for everyone!. You have to be totally committed!. Grow your own vegetables, buy organic fruits and vegetable, make sure you get enough protein in your diet that is not a meat, cheese or egg product!. No Fish, nothing with eyes, fur, gills, fins, warm or cold blood!. Do not wear leather, sit on leather, or use any product where animal testing is used!. Good for you! I would start out slow!. Just give up one thing a month so maybe this month get rid of chicken!. next month get rid of milk then cheese etc!. in the mean time replace what you do use with cruelty free and organic!. you can find a lot of fake stuff like tofurkey and boca burger but don't live on that alone!. it is full of sodium so maybe once or twice a week!. Just know if you do make a mistake, learn from it and move on!. don't stay up all night and worry about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try the Vegetarian Society site, also the Vegan Society - lots of experience, lots of recipes, friendly advice - take it gently at first!. Even cutting down on meat saves suffering & pollution!.
