Oprah going vegan?!

Question: Oprah going vegan!?
I missed her show can anyone tell me what her reasons were for going vegan!. All I heard was that its only for 3 weeks!. I'm sure when the 3 weeks is up she will feel so much better and stick with it!. I'm so excited cause maybe it will encourage more people to eat this way and then maybe some companies will change alot of the ingredients that they use, etc!.!.!.!.!.

but anyway I was just curious to know what her reasons were on doing this!? i heard the word detox but is there any other reason like suffering animals, enviroment or to be healthier!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

"How can you say you're trying to spiritually evolve, without even a thought about what happens to the animals whose lives are sacrificed in the name of gluttony!?"
-- Oprah Winfrey

She said she has been seriously considering becoming a vegetarian!. She read a book called Quantum Wellness by Kathy Freston and she is now going on a 21 day detox, she is sticking to a vegan diet and will consume NO sugar, alcohol, caffeine, or gluten!. So it is a bit more strict than just a regular vegan diet!. So far she is in week one and she says she likes the food she has been eating!. I looked at a video on youtube and it showed her saying grace mentioning that it is good to be aware of the food that people put in their bodies!. She said she wants to see how her body feels!. The book advocates veganism, calling it conscious eating!. I am not sure if she will continue being a vegan after the 21 days is up but, I am sure if she likes it she will be a vegetarian!. I hope so!!!!!! I am kind of scared about what she is going to say after the 21 days- I really, really, really, hope she sticks with it!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

My understanding is that she's doing it primarily as a cleansing program (she's also cutting out gluten, alcohol, sugar and caffeine!.) But in her blog, she mentioned a spiritual aspect relating to the treatment and suffering of animals!. I know that a lot of veg*ns got on her case after the puppy mill show; it was great that she called attention to the atrocious conditions that dogs are being bred in, but she said more than once "they're being treated like livestock," as though that sort of treatment was perfectly acceptable for *some* animals, just not dogs!. Maybe the feedback she got pointing out that some of us don't believe that *any* animal deserves that kind of life got her thinking a bit!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

She is going on a 21-day "cleanse" with a few of her co-workers!. I didn't see the show but I'm figuring that Oprah read Kathy Freston's book which advocates spiritual growth (including through diet)!.

I read Oprah's blog and read some responses!. A LOT of people seem to be doing it!. But who knows if they'll keep it up!.

I just asked this a few seconds ago! - I think its great! - I hope she doe snot bad month it though! She needs to do it for longer!

Yeah, i want companies to provide more vegan foods too, so more people can people and demand it and than more companies will have vegan foods!.!.!.!. more people eat and so on!Www@FoodAQ@Com
