My sister ordered an agedachi tofu appetizer today?!
The description was deep fried tofu with tempura sauce!. As a vegetarian, this seemed like something I would like!. There was something in the sauce that looked like cabbage and when i tried it it had a meaty texture!. I spit it out and asked the waitress what it was and she said it was fish!. What do you think it was!? It scares me to think of all the hidden animal products in seemingly vegetarian dishes!. I learned an important lesson today; I need to ask more questions and I can't trust menus!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Never assume because a dish contains tofu that it's a vegetarian dish!. This rule also applies to vegetable soup, cream of onion soup, etc!. When dining out always ask first!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I remember one time when I was vegetarian (I'm vegan now), I asked a waitress if the dish was vegetarian (the description seemed ok but of course I wanted to make sure) and she took the menu from me, read it out loud, very slowly, and said with a triumphant air "yes, it's vegetarian"!. Like I couldn't read!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I've had "Age tofu" which, was fried tofu in a tempura sauce as well, it WAS tofu, the one thing I didn't like was this weird stuff on top that tasted like Vaseline!. I'm pretty sure achi is a type of fish, or a Japanese name for "Ahi Ahi"Www@FoodAQ@Com
most people don't know the difference between vegetarian and vegan!. Alot of vegetarians will eat fish; so they probably thought it was ok to label it that way!.!.!.!. Next time, ask if there are any animal products at all in the dishWww@FoodAQ@Com
