It was not very easy for me to recognize this, but from monday i'm starting my new lifestyle!. I know there are a lot of vegans< so tell me please what do you eat!? fruits, vegetables, nuts!. sereal!? No dairy is allowed!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
it is hard to become vegan if you havent gone vegetarian already, but if this is what you plan on doing here are some things you must know:
no dairy
no meat (of course)
no eggs
no honey (bees)
anything basically that comes from animals (not just mammals)
whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and any sources of protien are very important in a vegan's diet
another thing to think about is what kind of vegan are you going to be!? strict, laid back, or full vegan
strict - no foods that come from animals and wearing NO leather or fur
laid back - no foods that come from animals but still were some fabrics that come from animals
full vegan - NO foods that come from animals and NO fabrics AT ALL from animals

Vegans do not eat, use, wear or otherwise consume animal products or products tested on animals!.
This means we eat a diet of fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, oils and everything made from them, but no meat, slaughter by-products, dairy foods, eggs or honey!.
We don't wear leather, suede, fur, wool, silk, pearls, down or feathers!. As far as it's possible, we source makeup, toiletries, cleaners and other consumer goods that are made with no animal ingredients and are not tested on animals!. We don't support industries that exploit animals for entertainment, like circuses or rodeos!.
If you choose to follow only the dietary aspects, then you're not vegan, but a strict or total vegetarian!. Either way, making the change is as good a time as any to brush up on your nutritional knowledge!. I recommend "Becoming Vegan" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina to anyone making the switch!. Both are registered dietitians and the book is more or less the bible of vegan nutrition!. A good cookbook or two wouldn't come amiss, either!. "Veganomicon" by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero is a great place to start!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's a very valuable and kind decision! However, I suggest you really try to find more information before switching your diet!. If you really have to ask if dairy is allowed for a vegan, looks like you need to study a lot more!
Vegan doesn't use any animal products even in clothes (wool, leather, silk!.!.), cosmetics (lanolin, honey!.!.!.)!. Of course they also don't eat anything that comes from and animal or animal products have been used in the process!. If you eat like a vegan but keep buying other animal products, you are called strict vegetarian, not vegan!.
I suggest you use up all your current non-vegan products and then when it's time to replace the old, try to find a vegan alternative!. That way you don't produce unnecessary waste!.
Check out these sites, there are lots of vegan nutrition info in the internet!. Just Google "vegan nutrition" and you'll get tons of sites!. The most reliable ones are if they are made by registered vegan societies!.

Just for the info, for most people going vegan overnight is really tough and most give up because it is really radical change in the lifestyle, like trying to run a marathon without any training or warm up!. At first it might be hard to find good recipes, learning to cook vegan foods and learning where you can buy vegan products!. You might even get digestive problems if you suddenly get for example a lot more fibre than before!. Same phenomenon happens to lot of tourists when they go to a foreign country and suddenly start to eat completely different food they eat at home!.
If you cannot make the change overnight, listen to your body and take baby steps!. First cut out meat, and when your body has gotten used to it, cut out eggs, then milk, then cheese, rest of the dairy products and so on!. While you are on the process, always keep your eyes open for stores and restaurants you might have not noticed before, explore new shelves in your local market and take your time to read the labels of different products and stop to check out local restaurants' menu!. All this takes time and your choice should last a lifetime so why hurry, especially when the odds of falling back to animal products will be bigger the faster the change is!.
Good luck, educate yourself and take it easy! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
