I wanna become a vegetarian, but I'm breastfeeding...can I still do it?!

Question: I wanna become a vegetarian, but I'm breastfeeding!.!.!.can I still do it!?
Any advices!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes, you can!. The American Dietetic Association agrees that a well-planned vegetarian diet is appropriate for all life stages, including pregnancy and lactation!. You'll want to make sure that you're getting all the nutrients your baby needs, but there's no reason why you can't do that on a vegetarian diet!. "(The New) Becoming Vegetarian" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina should have a chapter devoted to pregnant and lactating vegetarian moms (the vegan version of their book does, anyway!.) And "The Vegetarian Mother's Cookbook" by Cathe Olson, while focusing largely on raising vegetarian children, also covers nutrition for breastfeeding vegetarian moms!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just go slow!. this week make 3 meals with no meat next week add in a couple of lunches then the next week make all your dinners veg!. You don't want to go cold turkey (sorry about the pun) or you might get low on milk!. I would also bring in a nutritionist so you can make a meal plan that is right for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes; just be sure to get lots of protein through other sources, and consider taking a multivitamin if you aren't already!. Your doctor can probably help you plan out a more concrete nutritional plan with respect to vitamins and nutrients that you'll have to obtain from other foods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been veggie for 20-odd years and have breast fed two healthy, happy, veggie children (now 3 and 5 years old - my son is the tallest in his class at school!)!. Speak to your health visitor or GP to make sure your diet is complete in all its nutrients and the very best of luck to you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can do it easily!. Just make sure to keep a balanced diet and get plenty of protein/iron from other sources!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Of course!. What a silly question!.
What do you think all those vegans out there do!? They breastfeed!. Such as my wife did!.!.!. no problems!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
