Vegetarians.......about going vegan?!

Question: Vegetarians!.!.!.!.!.!.!.about going vegan!?
A question that was asked yesterday got me wondering!.!.!.!.!.

How many of the vegetarians on this forum are perfectly happy as vegetarians and have no intention of ever going vegan!?

How many of the vegetarians on this forum are planning on becoming vegan in the future!?

I'm not asking why you haven't gone vegan, I'm asking why you're happy being vegetarian instead!. I've been tossing veganism around and I'm curious for some input!. I think that both vegetarians and vegans are doing a great thing!.!.!.!. =)

Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Interesting question!. Honey is the only non vegan food I eat!. I love honey on my morning cereal!. It's a versatile sweetener!. My favourite bread contains honey, and it's so deliciously sweet! I love that bread!. However I don't drink milk anymore, I don't eat cheese anymore, and I don't eat eggs!. I veganized most of the vegetarian foods in my diet!. Swapping cow's milk for soya milk, etc!. I am on the brink of being vegan, but this does not mean that my diet is ''better'' than anyone else's in any way!.
I have learnt that you should never change just because somebody else thinks you should!.

However, I must say that going vegan was never my initial intention!. I'm still wondering whether I should eliminate honey!. I'm at a crossroads right now- I'm wondering what to do!. The thing is, right now I am happy being a vegetarian!.

Being vegetarian gives me a sense of belonging!. It just feels right!. You're a great person so being vegan or staying vegetarian won't change my opinion of you!. You're doing great!. My advice would be to *follow your heart*!. If you feel strongly about going vegan, then I support your decision!. If you want to stay vegetarian, I will support your decision also!. It is whatever makes you truly happy!. Whichever option you choose, I wish you the best of luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been a vegetarian for almost a year, it will be a year next month!. I am currently in the process of going vegan, though!. I have been working on it for about a week and it's actually a lot easier than I expected it to be!. I'm really excited about it, and I feel great!. I didn't feel too fantastic when I was a vegetarian, probably because I was eating tons of junk food!. But now that I'm cutting out dairy and most junk food has dairy in it, I've turned to more fresh fruits and veggies!. So I feel great! :D also not drinking milk feels good because I know I'm helping protest not only the dairy industry, but the veal industry as well since they are connected!.
Okay well I'm done ranting :) Wish me luck on going vegan!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i am slowly turning vegan, i think!. the main reason i think i will not is becuase i like eggs, i want some egg drop soup right now!!! (but it has chicken broth in it) i have lost my taste for milk just yesterday (thanks to who ever posted the "pus and milk" question) and i am going to start doing only almond milk(maybe soy or rice) and honey is out, well once i use the last of what i have (it is still tasty!!! just not going to buy any more)

as i start eating tofu more and more i think im about to drop eggs, but not yet!.

i had no reason to become vegetarian and i will not need one to become vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegan I understand is inextricably linked with protecting the animals on planet earth aside from humans!. Whilst that is commendable I think simply staying healthy whether it is vegan or vegetarian (lacto; ovo; pecto or whatever) is more important!. Ask yourself what are your reasons for wanting to be vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love being a vegitarian and feel much more energetic and healthy since becoming one!. I, however, have no intention of becoming a vegan!. I love cheese and ice cream!. also, being a vegan, would make it that much more difficult when eating outside of my home!. Its already hard enough being a vegitarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, for years, I thought being a vegetarian but since I've been spending time here in v&v lately, I have learned a few things and I'm starting to guilty for eating eggs and milk!. So I will probably try going vegan very soon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, I would really like to become vegan one day!. I have been a vegetarian since age 12 and have always considered it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well, for me i was vegetarian - all my life - but than I kinda felt like I needed to do more!. - Its only my 5 month of being vegan and i have had a few days when i was a vegetarian!. - But I felt super guilty and continued on my path of veganism!.

Okay, I knew I was going to help animals and my own health by being vegan!.

But I am very surprised by the other changes!. Example I see things more clearly!. There is greater inner connection!.

As a teenager I always thought that getting to know your own self was one of the hardest things to do, and it now seems like I have made a start!. Of course I am still a jack@ss at times, but I see things differently!. I have more patience and kindness to offer!. Plus, I forgive people more!. Its very different to describe over the net!.

I think the change is due to veganism!. - you are what you eat - but of course it could be maturity too!.

I would suggest you try being a vegan gradually, especially if hubby as has gone vegetarian!. Like one meal per week, and than two etc!.!.!. but don't change your cooking overnight!. that's maybe too hard for new vegetarian person in your life too!.

Edit:- that sucks, - hubby gave up! man!. well, its his path to chose!.

The cheese thing is hard at first, but now actually cheese make sme sick!. because i have not had it my system for a few months, i do not miss it at all!. Honestly i loved feta cheese!. I grilled cheese, I loveD cheese cake!. But now they all seem to make me physically sick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm veggie because i eat eggs from our own free range hens!.

i'm comfortable with that!.

I know it makes me lazy, selfish and lacking knowledge, but, hey, i'm happy with my choices!.

Maggie, if you are interested in "holier than thou" attitudes perhaps you can read the vegan comments in this question and several of the answers to go with it:

What many vegans seem to forget is that if it wasn't for the vegetarian movement the majority of them would not likely be vegans!. They seem to criticise those that supported them in the first place!. I have no anomosity towards vegans, I've supported them for years!. However, a few people here seem to be doing thier best to change that stance!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd like to go vegan eventually!. I'm a very happy vegetarian and I find it very easy to be one, but I think veganism is more challenging which is why I'd like to give it a try!.
My first effort lasted only a month!.!.!.that was a year and a half ago!. I've started dropping things one by one as i think that may be easier!. I haven't been drinking milk for probably 2-3 years and eggs gross me out!. Cheese is the hardest so I'm working on it right now, I've haven't had any in about a month!. I think the last thing I'll do is drop all the little dairy bits here and there, like in packaged goods!. I've got lots of resources and even though I'm vegetarian, I eat vegan a lot!. My favourite cookbook is a vegan one!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it's cool how Michael H has his own hens! Honestly, if I lived in a place that allowed me to keep happy, healthy hens I would!. But alas, Chicago has given me a yard the size of a bathmat, and I wouldn't trust the origin of the eggs in the store!.

I was vegetarian from 13 to 17 years of age, and I began to transition to vegan when I went into the Army at 17 (with parental signature consent)!. Needless to say, it was near impossible to eat a balanced vegan diet in the Army, so I ate my eggs and dairy until I was through A-school training!. I mostly didn't make the jump to vegan because I didn't know about the realities of the egg and dairy industry at first, and then later on it was just too hard and my parents were unwilling to bend over backwards for my diet any further!.

Now as an adult, living in a metropolitan area that makes a vegan diet just about efortless, with all the greatest and worldly products at my fingertips, it's really just too easy!. Since you can never be sure unless you're raising your egg-laying hens or dairy cows yourself (or are familiar with the farm or farmer and getting it from the source), I would prefer to take the certain cruelty free option!.

However, I notice there's animosity between the vegetarian and vegan population here!.!.!. c'mon guys, it's enough to have trolls around, let's have each other's backs and respect one another's choices!. If we start trying to out-holier-than-thou each other, we'll pretty much prove the old stereotypes about "our kind", right!? LOL!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
