What is your response when people say?!

Question: What is your response when people say!?
"God put animals on this planet for humans to eat"!.

I disagree!. Because how can God - a loving God - create creatures that feel love and pain to be put here just so they would suffer so much!. So I think its humans that f'd it up and use so much power yet little kindness!.

also, I have never understood why - religious - people pray for peace and love, but yet they give no love to the slaughtered animals they eat!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I say "Really!? Because my teeth look a lot more like cows' than wolves'!. Therefore I'm not meant to eat meat!. also, where does it say in the bible that animals are here for us to eat!? I've read in the bible where god says to love and take care of all his animals-not beat and torture them, then eat their rotting flesh!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I don't believe in God or organized religion so that phrase is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!.

Before people created the idea of God they were largely herbivorous with the women providing most of the food from gathering!. Meat was a rare supplement to the diet!. With the advent of religion as a set of mores and an explanation to the unexplained, came the thinking that man had "dominion" over nonhuman animals, and they were his to exploit!.

The Christian God, for example, has been shown in both lights actually: one being a angry, spiteful being, and another being a loving, warm, and inviting being!. These inconsistencies are likely to do with the education level of the authors of the Bible at the time!.

In short, people who use the phrase "God put animals on Earth for us to eat" are trying to justify their eating habits by standing behind their religion, because they think religion is the end-all to everything!. In reality, they are filled with guilt and this makes them spout out ignorant comments such as that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Let's look at it from a different perspective!. We as human beings like to separate ourselves from "the animals"!. Although we may be intellectual beings, we are in fact still animals ourselves (mammals)!. We are as much a part of the animal kingdom as the lion that hunts the gazelle, the bear that eats the fish, the wolf that eats the rabbit!. We would never begrudge any other animal for surviving on the consumption of those lower on the food chain!. We humans are no different from any of them!.

The problem lies in the way in which we consume meat!. Instead of hunting and killing as nature intended us to do, we farm and herd!. Farming and herding practices are in large part what has allowed our society to develop as it has!. It's an efficient way to feed large populations and ensure the continuation of our society!. But these practices have also led to a large scale lack of respect for nature, and for the animals we herd!. They are treated as commodities rather than living beings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"It's hard to understand why a compassionate God would create beings capable of feeling pain, suffering, and a desire to live, if their only purpose in life was to suffer and die at the hands of humans!."

or

"I don't think animals were created for humans any more than women were created for men (or black people were created for white people)!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is also a quote in the bible that says God gave humans grains and legumes to eat and to look after the animals!.

I am a Christian but the bible is contradictory at points as it is written by more than one person!.

What you gonna do !?Www@FoodAQ@Com

god may have put animals here for us to eat!.!.!.look at scripture, Jesus ate meat!.

But what I say is, I don't think god put meat here for us to torture and pump hormones into!. I don't think god wanted us to keep cows and pigs and birds confined into small cages where they can hardly move around!.

people have corrupted the system!.

say that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I say:

"find the paragraph in the bible/koran/etc!. that specifically says that"

Go on!.!.!.!. where in *your* religious text does "god" say that!?!?
oh that's right that's only *your* interpretation!.!.!.!.

By the way I don't see you following all 10 commandments either!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've never heard that question in real life, only from trolls on V&V!.

If someone did say it to me I'd end the discussion by saying I don't believe in god, so that is not a consideration for me in planning my diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My response to that is, that quote is seriously wrong!. God is refered to loving all creatures and human beings, she/he loves all of his creations!. So that quote is surely wrong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

God didn't put animals on the planet for us to eat!.
If that was the case, we'd eat all animals!.
Not just cows and pigs and that kind of stuff!.
We don't eat our cats and dogs!.
So why should we eat cows and pigs and chickens and whatever else!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Funny how the troll posts more then anyone else huh!? LOL

No educated person says "God put animals on earth for humans to eat"!. Those words come from typical ignorant people and are not worth even answering on account that men!.!.just men wrote the bible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I say "who !?"

not everyone has a "god", so its a mute arguement as far as i'm concerned

I highly doubt any "god" would approve of current animal rearing methods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I'm an atheist and I tell them that!. That usually stumps them!.

I also tell them that there's no honor in killing and abusing defend-less animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i tell them to show my a single verse that says that is what animals are for!. for all we know they could be meant for companionsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Say its me personal business and my life and i dont eat humans so why eat an animal!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I say "some animals eat humans!."

David L, you sir are made of meat as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I give them a copy of the Tao Te Ching, Bhagavad Gita, or Pali Tripitaka!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

God doesnt exist!. WRONG!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I couldn't agree more!. It really annoys me to hear that!. I think that they are just ignorant!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My response depends on my mood!. It's such a dumb thing to say, so sometimes I get very angry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I avoid talking about that stuff because it brings my own religious views into play!. Since it's very likely I don't believe in the same God than they do, it's kind of moot point to argue what God wants us to do or doesn't want us to do, or if he even exists in any semblance of the traditional view of God many people have!.

After all, since my religious views clearly reflect that all life should be respected, and since my religion correlates beautifully with my vegan lifestyle, I immediately disagree!. But that's just like how other people think that I'm going to Hell because God wants me to cover my hair in public, or for my sexual orientation, or just because I wear clothing of two different types of material (an abomination in the eyes of God parallel to sleeping with someone of the same gender - same paragraph as gay sex, in fact, in Leviticus)!.

Besides, religion is full of contraditions and is based on the musings and delusions of what men that lived thousands of years ago BELIEVED God said!. No part of any Bible or other written religious work was written by any God!. A fanfare of angels did not bring down some heavenly scroll that said what this whole little ant farm of life is about!. It's all based on what someone back then believed!. And on that note, if I were to go nuts and start writing my own Bible based on what I believed God was telling me, I would be prescribed antipsychotics and locked up!. But back then you were a prophet and had mindless sheep followers!.

While back then people clung to religion and falsehoods to explain natural occurances around them, we now have science!. And science has proven that animals feel and experience life in many ways like we do, and are no less worthy of life than we are!.

Pigs in fact have the IQ of 3 year old human children, and are incredibly clever, intelligent, social!.!.!. I find it inhumane to justify eating them because people feel they are stupider or cannot feel pain or emotion quite like we do!. In the same sense, tiny children or retarded people cannot either, but you'd be put to death for eating them!. You should protect the weakest in society, not devour them like the soulless golems mankind has become!. LOL, I just realized how ridiculously bitter that sounds!. Oh well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

here is how I responded to someone who asked that on here not too long ago:

"GOD made me not want to eat meat!.

He said "Thou shalt not kill"!.!.!.!.not "Thou shalt not kill humans!."

Try rereading Genesis!.!.!.!.God did not intend for us to be omnivores in his perfect world (the Garden of Eden)!. In the end the world will be vegetarian again as God says there will not be death and the lion will lay with the lamb!.

Many Christians pray the Lord's Prayer daily!.!.!.!.think about what you're saying: "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done!.!.!.!.ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN!." How is it in heaven!? I doubt there is KILLING in heaven!.!.!.!.!.and you have to kill to get meat you know!. Are you living what you're praying!?

Here you go:
"And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing
seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat!. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so!. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good!. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day!." Genesis 1:29-31

The first two chapters in Genesis were before the fall of humankind!.!.!.!.before sin, and before death!. As the website below states, "you can't have a hamburger without death!."

You may also want to try speaking with some Seventh Day Adventists on this issue!.!.!.!.!.they are a Christian church who preaches vegetarianism!.

Even if God wanted people to eat meat (which I doubt He does)!.!.!.!.He would certainly not approve of the inhumane way that the majority of animals are raised for food today!. Think about it!.!.!.!.would a truly compassionate God approve of factory farming and slaughterhouses!? Would the God YOU believe in support violence and death, or living with compassion and love toward his creations!?

EDIT: God didn't give humankind permission to eat meat until after the flood because there was no vegetation!. Even then He said that it would have to be free of blood!. It was at this point that the Bible states that animals began to fear humans!.!.!.!.!.they became violent because they had to defend themselves against US!. Think about it!.!.!.!.if animals and people were eating each other, how the heck were they stuck together on an ark without tearing each other apart!? Humans and animals did not eat each other until there was nothing left to eat!.!.!.!.which was a result of humankind's sin anyway!!!

EDIT: and WHEN was Genesis 9!?!? All together now!.!.!. AFTER the flood!. Anyway, I am not intending to argue!.!.!.I put the evidence out there (Actually, God put it there first) and it's your choice whether or not you read it and are open minded to it!. I really don't care if you are a vegetarian or not!.!.!.but you asked why I am, and that's why!. BTW: sorry I don't accept emails, I really do enjoy a good debate!. Have a great afternoon (really)!!"Www@FoodAQ@Com

If god did not want man to eat animals why did he make them out of meat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
