It won't be as big a deal as you think!. Keep in mind that you may not see any actual vegan or even vegetarian meals on the menu, but don't be afraid to ask!. I usually get a veggie fajita, and most times it isn't actually on the menu!. Just say you want a fajita with no meat, but extra vegetables!. One time when I did this they brought me a gigantic pile of what had to be every type of vegetable they had in their kitchen!. It was absolute heaven on a plate! also say that you don't care for any cheese or sour cream, but maybe some extra guacamole and pico de gallo!. Other options would be a bean burrito with no cheese or a bean enchilada with red sauce and no cheese!. You may need to ask about the flour tortillas, to make sure they don't have lard!. If they do, it's not a big deal, just ask for corn tortillas instead!.

Like other posters have said, make sure you ask about the refried beans and rice, since they could have lard, chicken broth, cheese and/or bacon!. Black beans are a good substitute (though sometimes they have bacon)!. If all else fails, just ask for extra veggies or plain rice for your side dish! Seriously, this sounds way more complicated than it is!. I doubt I've ever had an ordering session that lasted more than a minute (unless the waiter had to go find out about an ingredient, which has happened a couple times)!.

Here are just a couple of general dining out tips for vegans!. If you're asking about a dish, don't just ask "is it vegan!?" Most people, including waiters, probably aren't going to know what that entails!. Ask about specific ingredients if you need to!.

Another word of advice is to exercise some patience, tolerance and good humour!. Sometimes I have had cheese put on something when I requested no cheese, or found out that a dish had an ingredient in it that I hadn't anticipated!. If you can just scrape off the cheese or push that pile of sour cream to the side, do it!. I know a lot of vegans will probably protest this, but I think it's better not to make a big deal about something that's already been done!. Meat of any kind is a deal-breaker for me (so is lard or broth), but many's a time I've just scraped some cheese off!. If you do need to send a dish back, be as polite as you can!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it would depend on the restaurant!.!.!.!.!.!.
order corn tortillas!.!.!.i think they are always vegan!. then you could top it with veggies and either black beans or pinto beans!. you could put pico de gallo on it, guacamole, or salsa!. I don't think that any enchilada sauce has dairy in it, but you might want to check with the restaurant in advance!. there are a lot of options, you may just have to create something that isn't listed on the menu!. have fun =)

EDIT: i don't know if you have this place where you are, but "on the border" is a great mexican place that has a "build your own burrito" option!.!.!.it has a ton of vegan items on the list!.!.!.you can even substitute the meat in your burrito with sauteed zucchini, squash, peppers, and other veggies!. it's the most veg-friendly mexican restaurant i've found, so if you have it there you might want to suggest going there instead =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most of the Mexican food I eat does not have dairy in it, except for the cheese and in most dishes you can ask that the cheese be left off!.

Vegetable quesadillas
Black Bean soup, but ask them to not put cheese on top
House Salad, again no cheese
Spanish rice
Fresh vegetables of the day

Some restaurants have special vegetarian menus, check to see if your restaurant has such a thing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You could get grilled vegetable (and/or bean) fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, and tacos!.!.!.!. just ask them to hold the meat & dairy!.

I usually get quesadillas filled with veggies and ask them to hold the cheese and sour cream!. Even if nothing on the menu looks vegan, just tell the server that you're lactose intolerant and ask which dishes can be made without dairy products!.

Hope this helps :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

watch out for the beans and rice!. depending on how they make it there may be chicken/pork broth and/or lard in them!. it also depends on what part of the country you live in and how large the hispanic community in the area is!. The more hispanics you see eating there, the more likely it is that the food is not vegan!. cooking with animal broth is very traditional and incredibly tasty!. good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Re-fried beans, black beans, salsa, flour and corn tortillas and tortilla chips, Spanish rice, guacamole!. also, ask about substituting beans or some other vegetable for meat in some dishes!. Most places are willing to do this because it's cheaper for them!. Leave off the cheese and sour cream, and see if you can substitute guacamole, salsa, or some other meat and dairy free item!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would call ahead and ask them how they cook their beans and rice (refried beans may have lard and rice may be cooked in chicken broth!.) If those are available animal-free, just add salsa, pico de gallo, guacamole and you have a filling meal!. Grilled veggie fajitas may be an option as well; you can just ask them to bring out extra salsa and guacamole in place of the cheese and sour cream!. Corn tortillas are likely vegan, flour tortillas *may* be made with lard!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ask for a bean burrito with no cheese
A salad with no cheese!.!.!.!.
basically you can order anything without dairy!.

Don't be afraid to order something like that!. Believe me, it takes me like 10 minutes just to tell the waitor what I want!.
Hope I helped:DWww@FoodAQ@Com

chips and salsa or guacamole are the only ones I can think of at the moment!. You can ask the restaurant a day or so before you go I suppose!. If there is no vegan item on the menu, then I guess you are stuck with the suggestion from the first poster!.

Or suggest another restaurantWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well I am not Mexican so I don't know what they eat
Maybe you can order a burrito with no ingredients that are from a animal!.
I know how you feel when you go to a restaurant and there is nothing to eat there!. :]Www@FoodAQ@Com

bean burrito, no cheese or sour cream!. see if you can get salsa on to!. no side of rice, it usually has cheese in it!. if there is a rice side, see if you can replace it with more beans!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm vegan and I ask for a plain bean burrito with no cheese!. Or fill up of nachos and salsa/guacamole!.
Sometimes before going out I just eat before I go and order a drink!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just pick a vegetarian dish, and ask the server to please hold the cheese!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eat ahead of time and just go to the restaurant to socialize!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
