Question: I'm havingt a cookout tomorrow and need help!?
my fiance's mother is vegetarian & i can't think of a good dish for her!.!.!.the rest of us are gunna be eating burgers & hot dogs!.!.!.any suggestions for a quick vegetarian meal!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Boca burgers (or other meatless burgers), vegetarian baked beans, salad, fresh fruit and grilled corn!. Onions, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce and other toppings would be a good idea for the burgers, since they can be a bit bland!. Just make sure you follow the cooking directions on the meatless burgers, since they can be pretty easy to overcook!. (I have turned one or two into fossils!) For a non-grilled option, Boca Chik'n patties and nuggets are absolutely delicious!.

You didn't mention what type of vegetarian she is-- you may want to check because this makes a huge difference!. She may not eat either milk or eggs, and if she's vegan she won't eat any animals products at all (eggs, milk, meat, honey, basically)!. If she's a vegan, make sure you get meatless burgers labeled vegan (many other meatless burgers can have milk and egg products in them)!. Make sure you have hamburger buns, margarine and salad dressings available that don't have milk products and/or eggs in them!. It's not hard-- you can find all of these things at a regular grocery store!.

By the way, I think it's really considerate that you're trying so hard to plan a vegetarian meal! From a vegan, I can tell you we really appreciate it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You have many many options: Boca Burgers like the first person said are always a good choice, there's also a huge selection of MorningStar burgers too that come in many flavors! Theres my personal favorite, the Pizza Burger and there's Garden burgers too!. All of them would be a great choice!. MorningStar Farms also makes vegan hot dogs that work nicely on the grill!. Make some corn on the cob or asparagus on the grill too!. Wrap it in foil ( i use butter) don't think it's vegan though, you can put garlic powder and seasonings in it and it should come out fine with or without the butter!. Have fresh fruits like cantalope, honey dew or watermelon!. You should have a great time and enjoy!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I also think it's great that you are considering your fiance's mother!. However, having a MIL myself, I can understand if you're trying to impress her a bit too!.!.!.!.

My husband just earned his Master's of Divinity degree!. Part of the degree program included a year of internship in which he lived a calendar year as a student pastor (he worked as a pastor while learning under an experienced one)!. So, I spent a year learning how to be the gracious pastor's wife!. The church is big on inviting the intern over for dinner or bringing him/her and the spouse meals/food!. Everybody asked my husband or me what I wanted or would eat before we came over!. That flattered me!.

Paradoxically, I was reacently at a convention at a large university!. The veg*n options wee deplorable and laden with cheese and my husband labeled me a vegan!. Woman cannot live on granola bars, soy nuts, cereal bars, etc!., alone!.!.!.!.

I can't speak for all veg*ns, but we're usually flattered and impressed when we are asked!. Phone her and ask her what she wants and don't be surprised if she brings something, not only for herself, but to share!. (If she does, or you go to her house for dinner and she has something with which you aren't familiar, try it, not only to be polite, but you might find something new!. My omni husband was never sexier to me than when he began to try products from Boca and Morningstar Farms and to even cook and eat vegan meals at home!. However, I was eight months pregnant and the hormones were already going!.!.!.!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

We usually grill portabello mushrooms for my vegetarian friends!. Just coat them in a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper and grill until soft!. Eat them just like a burger!. If you are looking for some healthy sides to go on the grill, fresh veggies with a little olive oil and salt and pepper are great!. And my favorite grilled dessert is fresh pineapple slices with honey and cinnamon!. Mmmmmm!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I hope you at lest try one, but if not I completly understand and hope you have a great grillout!.OK obviously what we have suggested isnt what your looking for, so call your Fiancee's mom and find out what she would like ot have and then make it for her if you are able!. Again good luck MIL's are hard to please at times!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since you're eating burgers and hot dogs, I would suggest you get her some burgers and/or hot dogs too!. Ask her what she prefers!.

If you're having potato salad or anything like that, obviously make sure you don't put in any bacon!. Bac-o's are ok though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, any kind of veggi burgers, or hotdods would work!. also make sure you have plenty of different salads: fruit salad, bean salad, a basic greens salad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I go with what the first person suggested - get some meatless hot dogs or burgers!.

If that doesn't seem to work for you - why not just call her and ASK - then you will KNOW that you will have what she is wanting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
