Looking for vegetarian alternatives to roast beef and tuna. Any ideas?!
I have been a vegetarian now for over 17 years but I won't lie I miss Arby Roast Beef sandwiches and tuna fish sandwiches!. Yes, I know of all things to miss right!? But I can't help it I truly miss both of them not that I would ever eat the real thing of course!.
Has anyone found any vegetarian alternatives to either of these 2 things!? I have never seen fake roast beef and I do recall when I still ate meat I bought some roast beef lunch meat and tried to make a sandwich to taste like an Arby's sandwich (the plain kind) and it was not comparable at all!. So even if they had fake roast beef (which they probably do somewhere) how could I make it taste the same!?
I never did get to try Tuno and I am very upset that they no longer make this product especially since I never got to try it!
So I am looking to make fake versions of these 2 items:
Arby's Roast Beef Sandwich (the plain ones)
and
Tuna Salad Sandwich (when I ate meat I just used tuna and mayo so again plain)
Any suggestions!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

My favorite Tuna Free Salad
1 15 oz chickpeas, rinsed and drained
2 Tbl vegan mayo ( add more if you like, I do ;o)
1/4 to 1/2 tsp Kelp powder (try less first, more if needed)
Salt and pepper to taste!.
Some people add 1 Tbl pickle relish and 2 tsp brown mustard, I like just a touch of pickle relish and I skip the mustard, it's up to your taste buds!
Mash the chickpeas in bowl, add the other ingredients and mix well!. Eat it on the bread of your choice with lettuce, sprouts, or whatever you're in the mood for!. Yum!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love my meat and I will never give it up, but i use to live with a vegetarian and she use to use tofu with either teriyaki sauce or some kind of flavor enhancer for her meat!. The only thing I can think of is maybe some soy "meat"!. They have stuff like that at the health food store here!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
