You can make a yummy cottage pie with cabbage and potatoes!. Just steam some cabbage in salted water, with some chopped onions, seasonings, etc!. When its cooked soft, chop it up and put it in a buttered casserole dish!. Top it with a layer of mashed potato, dot the potato with butter (I use the tines of a fork to make rake lines in the potato!.!.!.it holds the butter better) Bake in a 375 oven until the potato crust is golden brown!. Its wonderful!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I looooooooove cabbage!. Don't forget how delicious it can be raw!. I like to invent my own slaws--you can get creative with what you add--mango, green onion, smoked tofu, etc!. Last night I made up a pretty delicious mediterranean-ish slaw!. I put a whole cabbage through the food processor on grate, then added diced red pepper, raisins and toasted walnuts!. I made a dressing out of olive oil, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin and a little mayo!. SO GOOD!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I know this might sound a bit !.!.!. weird!? But my gran makes a really good cabbage salad!. She leaves it uncooked (washes it of course) cuts it up into thin slices, and she adds lemon juice to it (not the fake ones) and a bit of olive oil!. i think it is fantastic, partly because it is very healthy but mainly because it tastes so good!Www@FoodAQ@Com
