Like other have so wisely said:

(1) Talk to your doctor and get referred to a dietitian!.
(2) Gradually eat less at each meal, and when you're ready cut out one type of meat - beef, then pork, then chicken, or whatever!.

As for your parents, you know them better than we do!. If they're moderately open-minded then just be honest with them and let them know how important it is to you!.
If they're absolute carnivores, then either stand up and work out your meals or just wait until you can move out!.

Just remember that it's all a process, and you can always make changes as you need or want to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's how I was two months ago!.
One day at dinner, I just didn't eat meat and my mom asked me why I didn't so I told her "I can't!. They had to kill the poor animals!. I'm not eating meat anymore!."
After watching "Meet Your Meat" at meat!.org I could never eat meat again!. After watching it, just the smell of meat would make me sick!.

OK, first of all - don't worry about your parents!. If you do become a vegetarian, most vegetarian meals are basically just regular meals without the meat!.

But to the deeper issue, what I would say is this!. There are a lot of farms in the world where animals are treated very well while they are alive and where they are killed without experiencing any pain!. There's nothing wrong with eating meat - animals do it in the wild, humans have done it since the beginning of time!. For me it's become unhealthy to be a vegetarian because I'm anemic (I lack iron, which most people get from red meat, and this makes my blood extremely thin which causes me to pass out if I bleed heavily - which as a girl, you have to take into consideration) and protein deficient!. You need to keep these potential consequences of being a vegetarian in mind before you make your decision!.

I would say, buy your meat from farms or if you're in the city, buy it from Whole Foods or any grocery stores endorsed by www!.certifiedhumane!.com!. That way you have a guarantee that the farms are held up to humane standards and are inspected regularly!.

If you do want to become a vegetarian, give yourself time to wean off!. It's a big change and you should take it slow!. also, start introducing soy into your diet now because it's definitely a different taste and texture than you're used to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

learn as much as you can before doing it!.
find out what kindof vegetarian you want to be and how to stay healthy and keep getting your vitamins!. i would google "Vegetarian" and look up as many websites as you can!. also you might want to consult your doctor to make sure you going to do it right!.
its great that you want to be a vegetarian, personally i feel healthier and stronger and its been a year since i last ate meat!.
good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you really believe that eating meat is cruel to animals then there wont be a problem!. when you look at meat you will think of the animals that died, and how they died!. When i first became a vegetarian i cired everytime i saw someone eating a piece of meat!. You just have to belive in what you are doing, if you cant do it, then you dont feel that bad!. even worse if you have seen an animal being killed and then served on your plate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

gradually work off the meat and replace it with hummus, peanut butter, or cashew butter, sesame or other seed, nut butters
you could add Spirulina and/or Chlorella which are whole foods with B12 and complete protein
whey powder re: protein
etc: etc:
eat nuts and seeds and whole fruits and vegetables
eggs
