Vegans and vegetarians hate me lol?!
I work at a vegan/vegetarian organic restaruant!.But I myself, am neither!. I eat animal products and meat!. I only eat meat maybe 2-3 days a week, but consume dairy and all that jazz!. Anyway, when customers ask me if im vegetarian, and I say "no", they act like they are offended and want to leave!.
Dont get me wrong, since eating there, Ive learned so much about health and now I love fruits and veggies!. I respect all peoples beliefs and understand why someone would be a vegetarian!. Im also a athlete!. I think if you eat the right animal products, it can benefit your body!. What should I do to keep the hate at bay!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can't please everyone, but it doesn't sound like you are running around slapping the diners with steak either!. They are asking YOU what you eat, and in my opinion that means they shouldn't be shocked if it isn't what they wanted to hear!.
As for this vegan, I don't hate you!. You said that you eat meat 2 to 3 times a week!. Granted, I don't exactly approve of eating sentient beings, but the fact is that most people where I live won't go a single meal without meat!. Not even a snack!. Compared to their eating habits, you're a dietary saint!.
Eating meat less often means that you are doing less harm to animals, to the environment, and to yourself!. I find that commendable, regardless of your motivations!.
Don't worry about the patrons!. They are (presumably) adults, so they should be mature enough to not ask questions if they might find the answer offensive!. Just be courteous and divert the subject to some vegetarian dishes served there that you really enjoy!. That helps to illustrate that you do have some common ground!. (Ironically, I use this same technique at omnivorous dinner parties where I am the token vegetarian!. It makes the situation less awkward!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

they probably dont hate you so much as they really expect that you would be vegan or vegetarian working there!. probably the thing to do would be to say something like "you know i wasnt when i started working here, i just liked the food, but i find that i am eating less and less meat since i got this job" or something like that!. people dont care what your diet is, they just have an expecation of you since you work there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Hmm, I find it hard to believe they "hate" you!.
Just try to do a good job and be as polite and courteous as possible!. Having a good sense of humor also helps!. (I'd stay away from any anti-vegetarian jokes, though)!. Maybe you can just try to avoid answering the question if you don't think you can make them laugh!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I doubt anyone hates you!.
They asked a question, you answered honestly; I don't see why anyone should have a problem with it!.
I'm vegan; it wouldn't occur to me to ask my waiter or whatever in a veg*n restaurant whether they were vegetarian, and it wouldn't bother me if they told me they weren't!. It's just a job, for goodness sakeWww@FoodAQ@Com

If it was me, I would try to avoid discussing what you eat with the customers!.
Maybe they don't actually hate you, perhaps they are just shocked that someone who eats meat would work in a vegan restaurant!. But that doesn't give them the excuse to be rude or nasty to you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Who cares what they think!. Lie to them!. I think its healthy to eat protein from animals!. i dont see why people feel bad for animals so now they are going to go and be a vegetarian!. theres a food chain ya know, other animals eat us to!. Most animals that we eat are raised to be sent off to stores!. You should make use of it!. Vegetarians are missing out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Learn about the menu in case you are asked advice!. Knowledge can sometimes help to avoid awkward questions but it could also earn respect!. A vegetarian or vegan will be more than pleased to learn that you are taking an interest in the diet they have chosen!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
ha that sux!. its kind of a weird job to have if you eat meat!.!.!.maybe try going vegetarian for a little while!. i think you'll find that you have more energy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't discuss your dietary choices with customers!. It's unprofessional!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When they ask you, you should just tell them that you're working on it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
you dont have to do anything, they just have to get over it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't see why they would be offended!. Everyone has there own lifestyle, and I have several vegitarian friends (I am a vegitarian by no means, and I doubt that there has been a day since I started eating solid food that I haven't eaten it) who don't car if I eat meat in front of them!.
Still, I think that the problem is that you work at a vegitarian store!. Try saying "No, but I'm turning into one," or "Not quite, but I'm close!."
You're right about eating animal products, by the way!. Meats are a good supply of protien, and red meat has a healthy supply of iron!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

lol!.!. some people are like that!. I've never been one of them!. I've been a vegetarian for over 12 years now and I don't waste my time judging people!. Although I've dealt with a lot of idiots who try to taunt me during meals and ask silly questions like, "does this bother you!?" while they shove meat in their mouths!. I don't get that either!. Although I do hate watching people eat, vegetarian or not lol!.
I think people just expect you to be vegetarian so maybe their annoyed that you're not going to know or understand as much (not saying you don't understand)!.
Just tell them, "nope!.!. but its a job!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

Firstly, let me say that no one should be rude to you because of your dietary choices, even if they disagree with them!.
However, so that you can understand this "hatred" I'll try and explain what your customers may be thinking!. Please note I'm not trying to excuse their behaviour!.
If you work at a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, then customers assume that you have been exposed to all of the same arguments that made them turn vegetarian/vegan!. They assume you are still eating meat while knowing that it is bad for your health, the environment, and most importantly (here's the bit that explains the hatred) the animals themselves!.
When you say you eat meat, most ethical vegetarians/vegans will think "here is someone who knows that the food they eat is directly responsible for animal suffering and yet they still eat it"!. To them that screams selfishly "I don't care about the suffering of innocents, I just want my hamburger!"!. And to people that have made a lifetime commitment to decreasing the suffering of animals, that "I don't care" can be deeply offencive!.
To "keep the hate at bay" I first suggest that you make sure you have opened yourself up to the idea of a plant-based diet, and listen to the many arguments for one (google search is your friend!)!.
By doing this you have at least satisfied their assumptions!. If you still want to eat meat afterwards then that is entirely your own choice, no one should dictate to you what you can and can't eat!. However, if you continue to work at this restaurant you may have to resign yourself to the fact that some people will (rightly or wrongly) be offended by this choice!.
Lastly, as an athlete myself, I highly recommend you at least take a look at the following sites:
