LOL!!! LOL!! Okra IS just wrong!. I have tried so hard to like it but just like you find it to be slimy, vile and just plain yucky!!
I have been told though that when it is slimy it is because it wasn't prepared correctly so I have yet to have it prepared correctly is the problem!.
I like most foods and love veggies so if there is one or two that don't make the cut so be it! ;-)
thanks for the laugh!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ok - if cooked properly okra should not be slimey! The proper (indian) way of cookeing it is to chop it up and soke it in water for half an hour!. While the okra is soaking, fry some onions, chilly, garlic, ginger and cumin in some olive oil!. Then add some chopped tomatoes and salt!. Once it has turned to a spicy paste add the okra and let it simmer in the paste!. Add water every now and then to prevent it from going too dry!.
The okra should NOT BE SLIMEY AT ALL - it should be a lovely favoursome vege curryWww@FoodAQ@Com

I've only had it in soups, and I don't mind it at all!. I bought some seed to plant okra in my garden this year, but with all of the flooding in Iowa, our garden is about 3 inches under water right now, so I'm pretty sure I won't be able to plant it this year!.
But I have to admit that ya'll have me a little nervous about it being slimey!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The first time it it was just plain old boiled ,Not to be impolite I swallow it whole!. I t is good fried with cornmeal!. That is fine if there is nothing else in the world to eat!. Eggplant falls into the same category as a useless vegetable unless you disguise it isn't worth eating!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Being raised in the south (South-East Arkansas) I love okra! Fried, pickled, and in vegetable soup!. As a matter of fact, at my school, I was the only one who eat my okra whole!. Everyone else just peeled the crunchy fried breading off the outside and eat it!Www@FoodAQ@Com
