What exactly is Hawaiian poi? Does it taste as nasty as I've heard ( like glue) & where in the SF bay area is!

It it comparable to tofu, which I like!? also, how much of it on a weekly basis would you want to eat!? This is not for weight building, but for health purposes!. I would rather buy a taro roots at any oriental store and boil it like yam then put butter and a bit of sugar, it is nice with hot coffee!. I have tasted hawaiian poi when I was a kid,I don't care very much for it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It is taro root pounded into a paste!. The first AND LAST time I had it was about 38 years ago!. I could only take one small sample!. It is nasty!. I also live in the SF bay area, and don't know where you can buy it!. Honestly, I really haven't been looking for it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
