Asian peoples have had thousands of years to mess with it and the best Tofu seems to be served with sauce that is based on sugar, oil and flavoring such as soy sauce, basil, onion, garlic, ginger or hot pepper maybe with a touch of sesame oil!. These are just some common ingredients to formulate a tofu that isn't bland as can be!. The sauce is usually thickened very near the end of cooking with a bit of cornstarch!. Remember that you can always add more starch so a teaspoon at a time is a good idea!.
Tofu and eggplant with sweet basil sauce is my favorite!.
If you are willing to work off the calories, it is good deep-fried till golden brown and then simmered in such a sauce!.
It can be used to make a decent replacement for egg salad if someone happened to not eat eggs due to cholesterol or whatever reason!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I freeze my tofu to get a good chewy texture!. I also press it before cooking to get all the water out!. See my profile for tips!. You can store your tofu in the freezer for several months--so feel free to stock up!
