VEGANS, please tell me what you eat.?!

Question: VEGANS, please tell me what you eat!.!?
Hello I became Vegan about a month ago and unfortunately at the same time we moved into a new home and are in the process of renovating it and have gone a month without applainces in our kitchen!. I feel like I am losing my mind because I am forced to eat out ALL THE TIME!. I love cooking and I can't wait to prepare my own vegan meals but for now I would like to know what things you order when you go out to dinner or lunch or something!. We don't have any restaraunts that have "vegan" items!. I live in a small town and many many people look down on me for doing this!. So if you could make suggestions to me as to what you order that would be GREAT!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey! That's great you went vegan--I'm a vegan, too!.

I'm not sure what kind of food you're talking about, so I'm not really very sure what to say about that one!. But here's a very helpful tip about Chinese food!. BE CAREFUL!!! At some places they cook almost everything in chicken broth, so make sure to talk to someone who speaks GOOD english and double check there's none in your meal!.

For lunch, it really depends on what you're ordering, but often places are nice enough to make something special for you, or just cook it with vegetable oil instead of butter!.

Dinner!? Try going to an Indian place!.!.!. they have good, vegan food!. Just make sure the quality is nice, because bad Indian food is REALLY bad!. But the good stuff is really good, so don't be turned off by what it looks like, I promise it tastes better than what it looks like! ;]

Good luck!. Hope this helped!.

This is a hard one- I lived in a small town that had 2 restaurants and one grocery store- none carried "vegan alternatives"- I mean!.!.!.!.I could buy raw produce from the grocery store and cook my own meals but that was it!. Even their tiniest section of faux meat wasn't vegan!. So!.!.!.I am a little sympathetic!. I hope you can get those appliances out so you can start cooking some vegan meals!.

To answer you question better, I'd have to know what restaurants are in your town!. You might try searching using words like "<insert restaurant's name here>" and "vegan" to see if anyone else has posted anything about it!. There are some chains that have vegan-friendly options!. But, you have to be careful, still!. Unfortunately, my experience has been that mom and pop restaurants in tiny, conservative places won't have a lot of vegan options- unless you get a salad with a non-dairy based dressing and maybe some veggies/fruits on their side item lists but even some of these may be cooked with animal grease or what not so be sure to ask = )Www@FoodAQ@Com

Congrats on going vegan!

Ethnic restaurants usually have lots of vegetarian options that can be veganized!. Look for Mexican, Indian, Middle Eastern, and Chinese restaurants in your area!.

At Mexican restaurants I get grilled vegetable (and/or bean) quesadillas, burritos, and enchiladas but ask for no cheese or sour cream!. Even at a pizza place or Italian restaurant, you can ask for pizza with no cheese and extra sauce & veggies!. If you're stuck at a restaurant with no good options, it doesn't hurt to ask if the chef could whip up a simple vegan entree for you, like pasta and veggies!.
