I've been a vegetarian and I've decided to be a vegan!. Can I eat organic chocolate bars!? Don't they have milk powder in them!? What's in the milk powder!? I'm kind of confused with what I can and can't eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
You can eat dark chocolate bars which don't contain milk powder!. Milk powder is!.!.!. powdered milk, milk is an animal product, and vegans don't eat animal products!.
Other than the obvious avoiding dairy (milk/cheese/yogurt), eggs, meat, and honey, your best bet is to start reading labels (you get faster as time goes on, I promise)!.
Common products which often contain animal products are:
Chewy lollies (Gelatin, same as gummy beats)
Soaps and other cosmetics (Animal fat)
Beer, Wine and Cider (Processed using, fish and egg products)
Sugars (Processed using bone char)
Breads (Whey, milk solids)
(Note: there are vegan options for all these products, you just need to do a little research and find out which brands are ok!. also, some vegans decide to consume sugar /alcohol as the animal products used are part of the processing of these products, not an actual ingredient!. Its up to you how far you want to take your vegan lifestyle)
A full list of animal products to be aware of can be found at:

And!.!.!. my favourite, an A-Z animal ingredients list that you can download onto your ipod can be found at:

The staggering amount of animal ingredients found in everyday products can be overwhelming, especially for a new vegan!. Don't stress too much about it, just try to inform yourself, and slowly work animal friendly alternatives into your everyday life
Remember that veganism is about giving a damn, not being perfect!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most chocolate isn't vegan!. Pure dark chocolate is sometimes, but not always (and it's not really very good, either!)!. Better to stick with things labeled vegan!.

I'm going to miss my chocolate desperately, but (I guess) theres more important things in life than chocolate!.!.!.and I feel bad that I call myself a vegetarian but am still associated with animal cruelty as I eat dairy products and eggs-though I think free range eggs might be ok!Www@FoodAQ@Com
