Is it wrong to challenge a dogma that you believe is fallible?!

Question: Is it wrong to challenge a dogma that you believe is fallible!?
Answers:
NO , question everything !.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, it can be a fine and brave thing to do!.

There is however a difference between challenging a dogma - ie a belief or code of beliefs - intelligently and knowledgeably, with the intention of starting genuine debate, and 'challenging' a set of beliefs by steaming in to a harmeless debate and discussion and being rude, insulting or childish!.

Here's an example:

Someone says, on a forum intended for discussion of all things vegetarian and vegan, that he is thinking of becoming vegan!. He asks if he will be healthier, and he gets a couple of replies from meat-eaters intelligently suggesting why they think he won't necessarily!.

He also gets this reply:

''You will also need plastic sandals and a bobble hat- both obligatory apparel no matter what the weather!.''

Not intelligent, and in no way a challenge to anything as well as not being an answer!.

There are a number of meat-eaters who post on here regularly who do not have their posts removed and reported; they poke a little fun at veg*ns, they challenge what they consider to be misinformation about veg*nism, but because they make an intelligent contribution without being offensive or stupid, they are respected by most users of this forum!.

Try their way of participating if you want your and your mate's contributions to be taken seriously as challengesWww@FoodAQ@Com

I see nothing wrong with that!. However, it should only be done without provoking others unless they have provoked you first!. Attacking someone on an individual level when the other person wasn't bothering you is just obnoxious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

that depends on the situation --the time and place and also the manner in which you "challenge" said dogma!. this question is too vague!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You owe it to the 8 inches between your ears to think for yourself and challenge everything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
