Are any peanut butters vegan?!


Question: Are any peanut butters vegan!?
Just wondering!. I've been a vegetarian for 5 years (now vegan) and I've never had peanut butter since!. My friend told me that some peanut butter's are suitable for vegans - is this true!? If so, which brands are!? Thank you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not too sure about brand names but i know they do them in health food shops and in some supermarkets, you just have to have a look!. If not you can make vegan peanut butter quite easily!.!. heres a recipe!.!. =]

Home made peanut butter
Ingredients:
1 1/2 c!. unsalted roasted peanuts
1 tbsp!. peanut oil / vegetable oil

Directions:

For smooth peanut butter:

1!.Mix the peanuts with the peanut oil, and pour the mixture into the food processor!.
2!.Process the mixture until it's very smooth!.
3!.Store your smooth peanut butter in a sealed container in the fridge!. It will be good for 2 weeks!.

For chunky peanut butter:
1!.Take about 1/4 cup out of your 1 1/2 cups of peanuts and set them aside!.
2!.Mix the rest of the peanuts with the oil, and pour the mixture into the food processor!.
3!.Process the mixture until it's very smooth, then stir in the peanuts that you had set aside!.
4!.Process a few seconds more to create the chunks in your chunky peanut butter!.
5!.Store your chunky peanut butter in a sealed container in the fridge!. It will be good for 2 weeks!.

Most should be as a proper one is based on peanuts and probably a little bit of salt

Check the ingredients and there it should say peanut, peanut oil, salt and nothing else!.

well, no matter what food you are accustomed to, there's always a vegan option around somewhere!.!.!. i haven't seen any personally, but i have heard of vegan jellos, vegan marshmellows, and, vegan peanut butter!.!.!. so i have heard that it does exist!.!.!. but good luck finding it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most peanut butters are vegan!. Peanut butter *should* just be peanuts and maybe a little salt!. Some of the crappy brands like Skippy add extra fat or emulsifiers, but any of the natural brand are perfectly vegan!. I use Adams and the only ingredient in it is peanuts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

most should be!. but many add fats and preservaties!. to always be safe, i make my own!. its really easy!.

1 cup roasted peanuts
1 1/2 teaspoons oil (preff peanut oil)
1/4 teaspoon salt

If you're concerned about your peanut butter being truly vegan, try the fresh-ground kind at Whole Foods!. They have a plain and a honey-roasted peanut grinder that creates peanut butter that is 100% peanuts and nothing else!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Peatnut butter is a veggie based product!. It's made of peanuts & salt!. It does not have to have anything else in it!. Try the Peanut Butter & Company brand sold at my local Kroger!. Or order it on line!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do not know about Vegan stuff, but there is peanut butter with no additives and crap!. Tasty, you have to give it a stir and keep it in the fridge!. My dog loves it in her King Kong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

WEll JIF is definately not, but organic ones usually are!. Just check the ingrediants, or make your own at the health food store with the peanut grinder!. Most peanut butters are just peanuts and oilWww@FoodAQ@Com
