I do not ride, but this site contains a ton of links to find veg motorcycle gear from head to toe!. Believe it or not, there are quite a lot of choices out there that are just as protective, if not superior to leather, ie Kevlar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not a motorcyclist, but I'll toss in my two cents, anyway!. Leather is a very personal issue for most vegetarians!. A lot of people differ widely in their beliefs on leather use!. The same goes for fur!. Whether you continue to use/buy leather or not depends on your reasons for going vegetarian!.

If you're vegetarian for ethical reasons (you don't want to exploit animals), you might want to go for a vegan pleather!. However, keep in mind that not all pleathers will breathe as well or hold up to the pavement as well as real leathers!. You'll have to shop around!.

If you have environmental reasons for going vegetarian, I'd stick with the leather!. In general, real leather lasts longer!. (Less waste!.) Some artificial leathers require a lot of chemical processing, more than real leather, and therefore some people are concerned about the environmental impact!.

Regardless, I'd use your current leather gear until you wear it out!. Throwing away or destroying leather/fur is a waste and to my mind is irresponsible!. You could sell it or give it away if you wanted to, but I know how much it costs!.!.!. it might be more economical to hang on to it!. It'll be good for a few years, probably!.

Bottom line: this is your decision!. Only you can make it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If/when I start riding again - and I will - I will wear leather!. If one has rode for any length of time, they know why!. The fake leathers don't make it - are not as good as leather - and the plastic that it is in it melts into the skin when you go down and makes for a nightmare of surgery if it is a bad tumble!.

Anyone that has gone to the hospital to see a friend that went down and what 'road rash' is - wouldn't question the wisdom of such!.

Had someone I know that went down this last week that had to be life flighted up and is now going thru the skin grafting nightmare - on his back and arms (he had chaps on)!. Young rider - thank GOD his girlfriend wasn't riding with him - he lost it where gravel was on the road - and didn't know how to handle it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not a motorcyclist, but I'm a vegetarian who wears leather!. I think it's personal choice really, and it depends on your reason for being vegetarian; for me, it's mainly for health reasons rather than ethical ones!. Your safety is the most important thing here, and you're already helping to look after animals and the environment by being
veggie!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, my vegetarian fiance rides a motorcycle, but he's going to get nonleather stuff (doesn't really wear much in protection except for helmet right now)!. But if you already have the stuff, then don't dump it for new stuff, because it's already been purchased!. If you feel bad about wearing leather, then sell it or give it away on Craigslist or something!. But as I said, it's already bought, no reason to get new clothing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a motorcyclist but don't wear leather jackets!. But, there's nothing wrong in keeping one!. As a matter of fact, I don't even like to ride with helmets!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd keep the leather for added protection!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

im a vegetarian and dont wear leather!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

NEVER!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

NOPE!. Either go all the way or no way!. Don't be wishy washy!. You wreck on the pig, chanches are the leather isn't going to save you, the helment might!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
