Giving us a bad name?!

Question: Giving us a bad name!?
My best friend recently became a lacto-ovo vegetarian (I'm talking March) and she's been annoying the crap out of me!. She wears it like a label, any excuse she can find she tells people that she's vegetarian!. She acts like she's better than people for it, and it REALLY frustrates me!. She's snobby about it!. Once my friend offered her a vegetarian and she was like (snobby tone), "!.!.um, I'm a vegetarian so!.!.!.yeah!. no thanks!."

I'm a vegan and you don't hear me telling the whole world whenever I get the chance, and when I do tell I'm not snobby!. I only tell if people ask or if I bring my own dinner to somebody's house when I stay the night!. She's giving all of us a bad name!.

What do I do!? She really is making me mad!. It's like telling everyone you don't like apples or something!. "Um!.!.!.I don't like apples!.!.!.so yeah!.!.no thanks!.!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
yeah that is annoying!. next time she does that/says something like that, just be like "do you really need to announce it!? your comming off pretty snobby to some people!." i know that sounds kinda mean, but from what ive heard, she pretty much deserves it!. good luck with her!. and by the way, how can you stand BEING friends with her!?!?!?!? :pWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would ignore her!. Sounds like she's having her own issues and casting them on to you!. Being vegan/vegetarian isn't a label, it's a personal decision and it sounds like she's almost having trouble making that transition and looking for validation that that is what she should be doing, or making a statement to garner attention!. Either way, ignore it, and don't comment!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Man she sounds like on of THOSE that the rest of us despise and cant stand and are the extremist!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.if i was you i would just tell her to her face how i felt and that she doesnt need to be uppity about it and she needs to remember she needs to respect other peoples values just as much as she would like people to respect hers!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.tell her the truth on how she is acting and you dont like it and its making you uncomfortableWww@FoodAQ@Com

It sounds more like she is going through a phase rather than a real morally challenging time!. The more you brag about it, the less serious you are about it (that's what I think) If it is a phase she will soon go back to eating meat, and if it isn't she will probably get tired of mentioning it every few seconds!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I guess you can join the world of people who make us ALL look bad!.
Americans look bad to a lot of countries, thanks to the way our news gets reported!.
Whites get a bad name, blacks get a bad name, teenagers, kids, Christians, the list is never-ending really!.
I would just ignore her and go on!. I mean people can be irritating!. You're just going to have to learn to ignore it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, just tell her 2 stop showing off!. Being a vegitarian doesnt give her the right 2 b packed on the back, she has done nothing reallly to b proud of! No one gets a gold medal for being a vegetarian!. If i were you, i would just drop her as a friend or tell her to stop flaunting her vegtarianism ( if that even a word lol)
Hope i helped

Make sure that she knows why she is going veggie so that when she gets into a discusion about it, she doesn't come off like she doesn't know what she's talking about!. Plus you should be like "!.!.!.well I'm a proper true vegerarian, so no thanks!.!.!."
seriously!.

Good luck!. ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its a part of life you just have to deal with like you deal with everything else!.But ,shes is not a vegetarian if she is a lacto-ovo!.It is not the same thing,And yes its annoying but hey let her embarrass herself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds like a personality issue with her, not a vegetarian issue!. People who just pick it up for the label don't necessarily stick with it anyway, so she'll probably move on soon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ditch her and get new friends!. She sounds like a snobby person who wants all the attention in the world!. Just stop hanging out with her and hang out with people who are nice and won't piss you off!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would say just ignore it or just ask her 'Why are you being so snobby' see what she saysWww@FoodAQ@Com

I know that can be frusterating, but you are the one letting it get to you!. So what!? Shes "giving us all a bad name", that shows you care what other people think, which is dumb as is!. Let her be and stop thinking about it so much!. She wont carry on like this forever, she just likes annoucing her new trend to people, which obviously shows shes a person that just blantely likes attention!. People will know it has nothing to do with being vegetarian the more they hear her talk!.
All you can do is carry a different attitude and prove that not all vegs are like that!. People will soon realize shes the only one being snobby!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

as in any group there are gonna be people who are idiots and make the rest look bad, and people will stereotype the rest like them, it can't be helped,
it sounds to me like she is obviously being veghead for the "social" side of it, im not saying this to sound mean but those are the kinda vegheads that dont last long, i had a friend like that she wasnt snobby about it but she just went veghead cause i went, but she would eat chicken and say her mom made her eat it, and still call herself veghead, and then when i was with her she would get chicken with noone forcing her or eat marshmallows!.
i know its gotta be kinda of annoying, but its cool having someone who can relate to you like that, knowing what its like to give up something for hopefully the rest of your life,
im vegan now, but its nice having my friend around cause she can halfway understand about where im coming from and doesnt make fun of me about it, like alot of my i guess "friends"
dont you just hate how some vegheads/vegans think they are better than meatheads for some reason!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
