Why in the heck FDA allows carmine in our food?!

Question: Why in the heck FDA allows carmine in our food!?
The mother i research the more sick and furious i get!. Carmine is used in minute maid pink grapefruit juice, old orchard juices, candy and other juice brands etc!.
Eating insect blood is against my religion and more than that it is dirty and disgusting!. there is other ways they can color things with and why color!?
Maybe they should start labeling things non vegetarian, even juice, at least we can know without having to read 100 ingredients and spend a long time at the store!.
do you agree!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
the FDA has no rules for vegetarian or religious labeling or allowing foods in regards to those subjects!. I didn't realize till i researched this that insect extract is used for coloring, very strange!. There are more non-vegetarians in the us than vegans/vegetarians, so you can't expect the FDA or any government agency to do much!.

You could go after Minute Maid or other food companies to mark their foods a little more prevalent when using this coloring!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I ask myself this all the time!. First, it is disgusting!. It is unnecessary, like we don't have enough colors out there!. They give it an innocent name so 99% of people don't know what it really is!. It's in a lot of things that would be veg otherwise, and that is very irritating!. I have written companies about it, that way they know people are aware and do not like it and will not purchase the product!.
Nerds contain carmine!. Beware, cosmetics can contain carmine too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The FDA allows carmine in food related products because it is an inexpensive coloring agent!. If you do not wish to consume it, check the labels!.

Uh-oh it looks like that jealous kid re-posted my answer!. That's a violation!. Don't despair!. With some hard work you could someday come up with your own answer!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You're under the false pretense that the FDA cares about American citizens!. They don't care about pleasing anyone, only themselves and their umbrella agencies!.

I agree with the Summer Breeze, just don't purchase things with cochineal or carmine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Is this another attempt to make the government your personal caretaker!.
It's not up to them to tell you that, it's not even up to them to tell you if it's bad for you!.
They only regulate it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree!.ewww!.Wow!.The FDA doesn't give a crap about us!.Then again there are more meat eaters than vegetarian in USWww@FoodAQ@Com

lol how else would you get the color you want!?
Where do you think colors come from!.
And as to why color it at all has to do with marketing, if is was grayish blue I don't think people would want to drink it!.

Oh and being a Vegetarian or Vegan isn't a religion, even if you think it is, doesn't make it one!.

wow 9 thumbs down, I guess you people don't like the truth!.!. does it hurt!.
I can only assume you think we can get it from only plants, well we can't!.
Plants don't keep their color, they turn brown when they die, and most are TOXIC!.
And no it's still not a religion, no matter what you tell your selves or how many thumbs down you give me!. lol

I wear your thumbs down as badges of honor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
