Answers:
I think they do a fantastic job!.
If someone was to break into a burning building to asve someone, they would be heroes!. Yet if it's an animal, they are terrorists!.
And they do so much more than people think - newspapers etc won't publish because they know that people would support them, which just won't do!
See www!.directaction!.com for a list of all that they do - there have been more liberations and acts of economic sabotage than people would ever guess!.
And, in my opinion, those who do NOTHING have absolutely no right to criticise those who do!. This is never more apt than in the case of the ALF, usually criticised by animal-lovers-who-eat-meat and are the direct cause of most of the problem beacuse they insist on eating meat and demand it cheap!.
And the ALF have never killed anyone - yet in the UK alone have lost several of there own directly because they were standing up in peaceful protest against what they believed in!.
(rant not directed at questioner - thanks for giving me the opportunity to get this off my chest)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have a lot of respect for the A!.L!.F, people are very ignorant of what they are about and listen to the scaremongering media!.
There has been several animal rights protesters killed by Fox Hunters, and a beautiful lady killed by a truck full of veal calves!.
The Alf have never killed anyone!
They have rescued thousands of animals from a life of torturing and suffering, whats the importance of property compared to a life!?!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am between agreeing and disagreeing!.

I will point out that many law breakers have become heroes!. Tea Party!? Underground Railroad!? Civil Rights!?

Such extreme action can result in innocent people being harmed!. So, I do worry about that happening!. I did read the book and found it very moving!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, the FBI has considered them a "terrorist group" b/c they caused damaged to tons of property!. I don't agree with them politically but ethically I do!.!.!.and I beleive that sometimes you have to take extreme measures to be heard in what you believe in!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you cant use violence and be taken seriously!.!.!.if you cant do it without violence you shouldnt do it at all!.!.!.!.!.after all what your saying!.!.!.if you killed a spider instead of removing from your house!.!.!.does that give me the right to firebomb it!.!.!.!.if so then i do pity you!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Coming from a country that was once held to ransom for 30 odd years by so called liberation fighters in black balaclavas, I find it hard to trust that image!.
What are they trying to hide!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

All trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again!.

Stay away from my property, ALF!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They're OK but they should think things through letting animals free (Mink) or any other that aren't indigenous to this country(UK) is not agood idea!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

poorly misguided "activism"!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I sympathize with them but they're too extreme!. Violence begets violence you know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Have you never seen 28 Days later!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are for a good cause, but they are insane!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you catch more flies with honey than vinegar!. I think of them the same way I think about PETA!.!.!. they're hearts are in the right place, but their heads are up their ***es!.

"The ALF are not do not use violence"
We must have different definitions of the word 'violence'!. I consider arson, property destruction, threats, and verbal assaults to be violent behavior!.

"Nobody has ever died at the hands of the Animal Liberation Front!."
That's half right!. The ALF waits a few days before issuing their press release!. This is to make sure no one was harmed so that they can claim it, otherwise they do not claim the act!.

"28 Days Later was not the ALF!. The ALF do not work like that!. Insidentally(sic), awesome movie!."
True story!.

"The ALF does not let mink free!. They find animals homes if they are going to be a hazard to the ecosystem!."
That did happen, and the two leaders of SHAC approved of the action!.

"They are not terrorists!."
Hmmm!.!.!. let's look it up in the Cambridge dictionary:
terrorism - violent action, or threats of violent action for political purposes
Hmmm!.!.!. maybe Merriam-Webster will be different:
terrorism - the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion

They may not be Al Qaeda level, but they are terrorists!. It doesn't matter if you don't like the word, you can't change its definition to suit your purpose!.

"The damage is just as many of thes(sic) labs become unprofitable and close down for good!."
No, but they do move to different countries such as Ghana and China, where the laws protecting animals are less!.!.!. or even nonexistent!. At least in America and in the UK there is some transparency where companies like HLS can be monitored!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Terrorists, along with their equally mental cousins the ELF!.

The ELF burned down some peoples houses outside Sacramento a while back because they were built in some area they didn't like!. Burned them down!!!

Edit: You're trying to tell me how "noble" this organization is and on the very front page of their website are two guys in ski masks looking like common street thugs!? Please!. Spare me the drivel!. They are terrorists!. And smashing up property and burning down houses are NOT victimless acts!. How about I go and burn down your local food coop because they won't buy my conventionally produced farm products!? You are so lost it is simply pathetic!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with the ALF, but not necessarily with all their methods!. True some property may be damaged, but innocent, defenceless lives are saved!. The ALF receives unfairly harsh criticism online and through the media!. I believe the media and government agencies employ scare tactics and fear mongering to discredit and vindicate the ALF!.

It's rather reminiscent the Red Scare, periods of fear over communist infiltration of U!.S!. society!. The term Green Scare, is a now used by environmental and animal rights activists referring to legal action by the U!.S!. government against the environmentalist movement!. The US government and its agencies employs repressive legislation such as the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act to attack the Earth Liberation Front and Animal Liberation Front and those who publicly support them!.

The term has now been used to describe an early 2006 sweep of arrests, convictions of alleged ELF/ALF activists on charges relating to acts of "environmental terrorism"!.

Recent repressive legislation and fear tactics are used by the government in attempt to turn environmental and animal rights activists and the ALF into "terrorists!." Similar legislation has also been enacted in Austalia and the UK!.

I say good on them for their direct action in saving lives!. Though some individuals do give the organisation a bad wrap!.

[add]: under these new legislative tools, the government has the ability to spy on our communications, tap phones, track communications and invade our personal privacy!. They can also arrest and detain people based on this questionable, apparent "evidence" all in the name of protecting against so called "terrorists", which often only happen to be protesters!. I don't know about you, but that's an invasion of civil liberties!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I used to support all kinds of extremists groups, either morally or occassionally financially (small change from my pocket money when I was young)!. The first time my views were seriously challenged was when I jpoined a protest march with the ALF and anti vivisection society back in the 80's!. Some ploice horses were blocakding the entrance to the vetinary section of the local university and several marches broke away to try an get into it!. The thought nothing of hitting and kicking the horses in their attempt to get access! This did not look like animal lovers to me but rabid idiots with nothing to do but make trouble and detract from the point of the march!. Some years and two children later my views are more moderate!. Am I saddened that animals may have died in the medical research that went into trying to find a cure for my children(both disabled) - of course I am, any decent human would be!. But in hindsight would I have it any other way!? - No because my children are everything to me!.
So now I do not believe in bloodsports, or even things like horse racing and dog racing as behind the scenes many animals are abandoned to their fate if they do not measure up!. I do not believe in vivisection for cosmetics etc!. I don't agree with the fur trade, intensive farming methods, or the import and keeping of exotic pets without appropriate licences and training (particular things like lizards, snakes, tortoises etc which need specialist care and handling)!.
That said I am an advocate for zoos(properly planned) as they fulfill a role in protecting endangered species and general education, and i believe in limited vivisection where experiment can be proven to have a valid purpose in the benefit of mankind and animals and where they are not duplicated (one problem at present is individual labs doing the same things and not sharing info, which means more animals suffer) and that they are ALWAYS carried out humanely!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

'The Animal Liberation Front (ALF) carries out direct action against animal abuse in the form of rescuing animals and causing financial loss to animal exploiters, usually through the damage and destruction of property!.'

Having damage done to your property and suffering financial loss is a very small price to pay for being so evil and abusing animals!.

I agree with it!.

EDIT: How can people be so ignorant!? 'Oh no! They broke my PlayStation because I tortured and abused a cat in cold blood! How could they!?'

Get over yourselves!. Abuse, evil and cruelty deserve more much than a smashed window in my opinion!. These guys are going lightly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love animals, and hate abuse!.!. i once saw a teenage boys kicking his dog over and over and over!.!. the dog looked half starved, and looked really old and tired!.!.!. i saw that same boy the next day, and went up to him and asked "Don't you have a dog!?" and do you know what he said!? he said "I did, but he died this morning" THE NERVE! It's so mean!Www@FoodAQ@Com
