I just finished my juice detox today and I'm actually surprised at how much energy I have!. Contrary to the belief that you are starving yourself, it's actually a great way to improve digestion and increase your immune system!.
Here's a little about how and why to do it!.!.!.or for the non-believers, why you shouldn't do it:
* Liver and blood cleansing from juicing beets and apples
* Better kidney functioning, lowered blood pressure, and improved skin appearance from juicing cucumbers
* Improved kidney function from juicing cranberries
* Relief from joint stiffness and ulcer repair from juicing cabbage
Start with the vegetables you like un-juiced; remember you can eat the pulp as a great source of additional fiber!. The darker green the vegetable, the better it is for you, even though it takes some getting used to! Most people love carrot juice, but beware—it’s full of natural sugars, as are most vegetables that grow underground, and can wreak havoc on insulin levels!.
You can add fats and proteins to your juice for increased nutritional value!. Pumpkin or flax seeds, garlic and cod liver oil or fish oil are excellent sources of fat and protein!. There are other add-ins, such as coconut, lemons and ginger that will make your juice more palatable and give it some interesting flavor!.
Make sure you start with quality organic produce – the juice is only as good for you as what goes into it to start!. Drink the juice immediately after juicing as it loses its nutritional value quickly and is perishable!. And be sure to thoroughly clean your juicer to prevent mold from accumulating in it!.
The fast that I did had beets, celery, tomatoes, oranges, apples, carrots, ginger, strawberries and blueberries!. I did this with my doctor's advice!. I drank 8 oz!. of juice (whatever concoction I came up with from above from my juicer) and 8 oz!. of water every 30 minutes, alternating, for 3 days!. I first day I felt fine, a little hungry, but okay, the 2nd day I felt a little sick, a slight headache, a little weak and tired!. The 3rd day, I felt fantastic the entire way through!.
Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have tried fasts, they made me hungry and dizzy!.
Fasts are a dietary trend, there is no positive benefit!.
Your body needs you and relies on you to fuel it properly!. You aren't made for periods of hunger, you need constant energy every day to do the things you need to do!. Detox and other trendy fad diet words mean nothing in comparison to what happens to your body when you deprive it!.
You have kidneys and other body parts that do the magic of detox for you!. You don't need to flush toxins out!. Eating a healthy organic plant-based diet should be all you need to cut out dietary sources of toxins, and environmental toxins can't and won't be flushed out unless you plan on losing all your body fat, concentration-camp style!.
Remember, many serious toxins are stored in your fat tissue, and weight loss releases them into your blood stream and out of your body, but RAPID weight loss (over 2 pounds a week, like some fasters boast) doesn't boast the same fat shedding benefits!.
It's physically impossible to lose more than 2 pounds in a week in a healthy way - pushing yourself into starvation and over-exercising will shift your body into a mode where it'll shed water and begin to slowly eat itself (some anorexics die because their body begins to metabolize their heart muscles! Yikes!)!.
When people purposely undernourish themselves for days at a time, their body enters a delirious state where they may feel euphoric and feel benefits that mean nothing on a biological level!. It's entirely mental and is the underlying mental addiction that can lead to a serious eating disorder!.
If you examine clinical studies on fasts, you'll notice that people begin to have placebo effect-like claims of feeling euphoric and amazing from starving themselves and they begin to exhibit further and further more delirious and unbelievable behavior - hoarding, obsessive shopping, anger, hyperactive burts of activity, binging on food in secret, guilt and obsession with body size!. And they feel that high of being hungry all along, like a nize buzz that they mislabel as "health"!.
Don't fall for the fad of "fasting", unless you're a religious person that is prescribed fasts as a means of worship, there is no benefit to fasting!. Normal weight loss is good, or just maintaining a healthy diet and drinking lots of water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!.
I just drink water all day!.
Why!?
My body tell me to!. Really, I just feel like it!. Usually on a hot summer day when I'm not doing much of anything!.!.!. I just don't feel like eating!.!.!. just drink water all day, and that's it!.
There are other days which are very similar where I just eat fruit all day -- it's in season, tastes great, only comes once a year in the summer, so I pig out on it!.!.!. but I guess it's a fruit fast!.
Remember, breakfast is called that because you are not supposed to eat after your evening meal and hopefully go to bed when the meal is well digested, then you rest all night and allow your body to repair itself (as digestion takes a LOT of energy)!. You wake in the morning not having eaten since your last meal, perhaps 12 hours ago or more!. That would be considered a fast -- a daily fast!. Allows your digestive system to rest, and allows your body time and energy to do repairs etc!. and sleeping on an empty stomach makes for a restful sleep!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do a juice "fast" twice a year for two days!. It isn't for an amazing weight loss or some euphoric feeling, I just like to feel cleaned out and to get rid of the bloaty yucky feeling you get every now and then (especially post holidays)!. It does seem to really clean me out and I get a nice burst of energy!. I don't do any extraneous activities while I fast and if I really feel like I'm not gonna make it (hunger wise) I will indulge!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I do a juice fast about once a week to help my liver recover from all the wine it gets the rest of the week!.
usually a mix of cranberry, orange, lemon and pineapple juice with some ground ginger!.
i also drink ginger tea and tons of water - sometimes i loose a few pounds (water weight, i know) and it helps get rid of the bloated feeling!.!.!.
sometimes for dinner that day i'll have fresh fruit or veggies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Fasting is unhealthy!. Just eat a healthy diet and you won't have a reason to fast!. You can lose a lot of stored nutrients and end up worse off than you were when you started!.
I would never do it or recommend that someone else should!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
