I've been vegetarian for only a few weeks!. I did it for health reasons and was completely lost at first too!. What I did was look through several of my cookbooks to see if I could adapt any recipes!. To my suprise there was plenty!. Italian food is very easy to adapt and for most other things I use 'meaty' veg such as mushrooms and courgettes!. I've also found a use for the tins of mixed beans that were gathering dust at the back of the pantry!. I use those in casseroles instead of meat!.
I've also stocked up on a few bits for the freezer such as veggie burgers, quorn sasuages and other conveience foods for when I'm just in from work, hungry and need something quick!.
It wasn't too hard for me and loathe as I am to admit it, I feel much better these days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I cut out all meats except for seafood and turkey, and after the next thanksgiving (3 months or so), when i ate turkey i decided why should the turkey and the fish have to die when the other animals get to live so i decided to just quit meat altogether!.
The benifits to becoming a vegitarian greatly outweigh staying a meat eater!.
1!.) You have many more health benefits
-You consume less cholesterol and lower your chances for getting diseases in the future!.
2!.) you have more energy, it is proven that if you change your lifestyle to a vegitarian one you have more energy and feel less sluggish!.
3!.) you help the environment, you do not pay for meat to be shipped across the country to your plate!.
4!.)You help the animals and stand up to the meat industries

If you buy and prepare your own food, it should be relatively easy!. If you live with parents or roommates and share meals, it's tougher!.
Be prepared to shop and cook for yourself independently of whatever's being made for other people in your household!. They'll still expect you to eat with them, if that's the norm!. You and the other cook(s) may get in one another's way, even needing the same pans and such!.
Make sure you're solid on your body's nutritional needs!. You don't need animal-based fats and proteins, but you still need fats and proteins!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Really and truly, I just stopped eating meat!. I made the decision on a dime so I didn't have time for a strategy, I just did it!. It wasn't as hard as you might think, I just learned as i went!. This was before there were an array of mock meat products to ease the transition, too!. Replacing the meat you're used to with analogs is a good way to ease into it, at least until you're more accustomed to planning meals that don't revolve around a piece of flesh!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
if you look up what people do to animals in order to get meat and other products, you will see that they are all suffering terribly!. you should probably stop eating red meat and fish at first because otherwise your body wont be able to get used to the lack of nutrients!. after a while, stop eating meat all together!.
if you are planning on being vegan, then you should buy Amy's products!. the food has no animal products in it whatsoever!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I'm not sure how much help I can be because I really did "just stop eating meat" one day!. I think what works for a lot of new veg*ns is planning out your meals ahead of time!. You know how comfortable you are in the kitchen, so pick some dishes that are on your level!. There are a ton of great vegetarian recipe sites out there, for cooks of all experience levels!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
