Question: Officially starting up my Vegetarian lifestyle!?
yesterday if you may have read my question,about my parents being against it!.Well,I told them im not eating the meat and starting today I would start up this lifestyle!.and I told them this at dinner,when I denied eating the chicken they made so now I haven't had food and im 100% sure we have nothing vegetarian around at the moment!.so is there anything simple I can make!? nothing big and fancy some simple kinda food!.
and also,if you have any reccomendations for things I can pick up that would be cool!.and maybe some good recipies that are your favorite and that maybe i'd like to try!.im open to anything :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Great you decide to be a vegetarian!.

Now, nothing vegetarian at home!? No vegetables, no fruit, no milk, no egg, no bread, no potatoes!? If you have any of the above, you can whip up something:

1!. Mashed potatoes with milk and salt!.
2!. Fruit & milk shake
3!. Veg & milk shake (celery milk shake, carrot milk shake)
4!. Cream of mushroom soup!?
5!. cereal
6!. cookies
7!. sandwiches with lettuce, tomatoes, egg
8!. Fried egg
9!. scrumbled egg
10!. Hard boil egg
11!. Chinese egg drop soup
12!. 1 can of Cream of mushroom + pasta
13!. Omelete (with mushroom, or onion)

Well, you know you cannot have products w/ gelatin in them!.!. Jello, Starburst, Twizzlers!.!.!. a lot of gummy candies!. also you may want to make a pretty easy stir-fry or something with like pasta & various vegetables you might have lying around!. You might just want to eat the side dishes that your parents prepare (if they are meat-free, obv!.) Remember to watch your protein intake!.!. beans, nuts, legumes!.!. & also vitamin B12 is found mainly through animal sources, so you might want to look into getting a vitamin supplement!. =) Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm excited for you!. Meat substitutes are now easy to find!. Try everything by Morningstar Farms in the freezer case at the market!. The ground beef-ish crumbles are great for tacos!. also, don't forget to eat plenty of beans and nuts for protein!. Be careful of the meat substitutes or soups that pack a lot of sodium!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are a vegetarian and not a vegan don't eat meat-of course!. Gelatin also contains cow so be really careful about that!. It's in things like skittles,gummy bears, and marshmallows!. Just take a quick peak at the ingredients and check for gelatin!. Good luck and congratulations!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm sorry to hear about your argument with the parents :)

You see, what i did to get around this is go to being vegetarian gradually!.!.!. that way both they and my body got used to it!.

Since you're a vegetarian, not a vegan (even if you go vegan later it's better to start this way) make sure to have eggs (for ommletes or boiled) and lots of milk and cheese around!. they make for easy energy and sustainance!.

As for the rest of your food, Try to have a little of everything - some cereal, some beans (lentils are GREAT for us) lots of greens!.!.!.!. potatoes are always easy to fry, also you can use cheeses and tomatoes/cucumbers/peppers in sandwiches!. This would be the crash-course in being vegetarian :P

The next step after you secure imediate nourishment is to look up vegetarian recipes and make sure you have basic ingredients handy, and start learning to cook a little :) it doesn't take a lot of skill to make yourself a decent plate!.

First of all, Congrats on sticking with your desire to become a vegetarian despite what your parents think! I know how you feel, when I became a vegetarian 3 years ago my dad was not happy (My mom actually became a vegetarian with me!)!. Anyway my dad is a big carnivore and kept trying to persuade me to go back to meat in my first weeks as vegetarian, but I refused!. But he got over it! He eventually stopped badgering me about what I eat and a couple weeks ago my mom said he was going to start being a vegetarian 1 day a week! So even though it may have taken awhile, I'm really excited about his decision! So your parents are probably going to bother about it for awhile, but they will stop!!

There is tons of vegetarian meals you can have from simple ingredients!. You could add frozen veggies, beans and/or nuts to rice to get a healthful meal!. You could have pasta or spagetti!. You could have bean soups or meat subsitutes!. There are all kinds of possibilities! Just sample different things until you find some you like and until you find a variety of healthful veg foods you enjoy you could live on PB&J and other vegetarian snacks so you don't go hungry =)

Basically being a vegetarian means not eating animal products!. If your just a vegetarian you cannot eat meat of any sort (or anything with gelatin,this is a meat product), but can still eat milk and eggs!. If your a vegan, however, you can't eat any meat, dairy or egg products, gelatin and alot of vegans give up honey as well!.
