Are there any more veg'ans out there who refuse to eat lettuce?!
Does lettuce really have any nutrients!? Is there any point in eating it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
The last time I ate lettuce was yesterday- it was on a veggie delight Subway sandwiche!. But I don't really eat it that much!.
It makes me laugh when people think that all veggies LOVE lettuce-- I hardly ever eat it! I don't think it's very palatable and it hardly has any nutritional value!. The texture is good though, it adds crunch to a sandwiche!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No lettuces have a whole lot of nutrients, but they are tasty and excellent in adding crispness and freshness to mixed salads!.
Almost every night for dinner I make a salad of the following:
lettuce (usually either iceberg or romaine)
cucumber
green and red sweet pepper
radishes
scallions
olives
avocado
tomato
to which I add
salt, fresh ground pepper, tarragon, garlic, wine vinegar, and olive oil, and sometimes crumbled blue cheese!.
A really nice first course! My wife and I usually have seconds!.
When spinach is young and fresh, I often make a spinach salad!. I cut the root ends off the spinach and cut it into convenient pieces!. I then add either sliced mushrooms or small chunks of feta cheese, a bit of vinegar and olive oil!. Sometimes I add sliced tomatoes!. A bit of salt, and that's it!.
But one the spinach gets tough, it's better to eat it cooked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
