Meat in mashmellows.?!

There is gelatin in marshmallows!. Just like meat, it comes from slaughtered animals and is not something that vegetarians eat!. It's made by boiling bones, hides and conncetive tissues!.
I'd love to know where Carmen is finding that "most" commercial marshmallows are made with "vegetable gelatin!." If the ingredients list gelatin it is always an animal product!. There are plant-based thickeners, but they never appear as gelatin!. And there are precious few companies that are making gelatin-free marshmallows, none of them available at regular grocery stores!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Originally marshmallows were made from the root sap of the marsh mallow (Althaea officinalis) plant!.

There was a time the answer to your question would have been yes!. However, most companies that manufacture marshmallows use a vegetable based geletin!. I have made marshmallows in the past for gifts, and have made an egg white based and another recipe that called for geletin!. I used the vegetable based brand of geletin!. I believe you are talking about Gelatin, it's in marshmellows, jello etc!. I also found out that it's the little covering to some of my pills!. LIke that gelly-like covering to flaxseed oil capsules!.!.!.so yeah, not meat, gelatin!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

But i have heard that people back east, because of religion aren't allowed to have jello because it's not kosher because it involves animal of products of some sort!. i think an exchange student at my school told me this!. beats me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
