Did anyone start this way?!

Question: Did anyone start this way!?
My vegetarian friend tells me hes never heard of anyone claiming vegetarian cause they're just "not diggin meat"!. As of late i have lost a taste for meat!. It has nothing to do with animal rights or some epiphany of health!. I have at time in my life gave up meat for a detox of 4-6 weeks and always went back to meat!. Over the course of the last several weeks I find myself avoiding meat!. I have been broke and kinda stopped buying lots of protein cause of cost!. But still had some meat!. Im finding myself loving the meatless foods in the freezer at the store!. Tons of veggies! I still eat meat every two or three days but only when its subtle and mixed into lots of veggies and rice/bean!. At my 4th bbq I passed on steak!. Really!? No Meat at a 4th bbq!. Whats wrong with me!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Not me personally, but I've heard plenty of people here say their primary reason for going vegetarian was either that they just didn't like meat or that they didn't feel good (physically) eating it!.

I wasn't eating much meat at the time I went vegetarian, but that's because my mom was on a really tight budget and we were treating it more like a condiment than a main course just to keep the grocery bill down!.

Nothing's wrong with you!. You eat what you eat and you like what you like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The label "vegetarian" is applied to people who do not eat or avoid meat!. The definition is pretty much the same!. The reasons why people become vegetarians do not have anything to do with either the label or the definition!. It does not eman you ahve to follow certain beliefs or practices other than what is stated!.: No consumption of animal flesh or slaughter by-products

There is nothing wrong with disliking meat!. It is no different from someone who does like to eat a specific food or food group!. It might be a bit unusual but not abnormal!.

Your friend is misinformedWww@FoodAQ@Com

It's just your acquired taste preferences changing!. I would always go through "food phases" wher i would obsess over one particular food, really love it and think to myself how i couldn't never be over this particulary item and eventually stopped!.

It went carrots, cucumber, brocolli, dried apricots, back to carrots and is now at cheese!.

You just change!. I used to hate capsicum and now love it!. I used to love eggplant and now hate it unless fried!.

*shrugs* nothing wrong with you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I read "Tons of veggies" I decided to answer: "Don't worry!" you're on a good track!.
( I am not vegan by any meaning, but do limit that protein (fat) intake!.)

You need worry about only two things

First and most critical is vitamin B-12!. There is NO biologically active source except animal products!. You probably have enough in store for a year or two, then irreversible, subtle, neurological effects begin to appear!.

Second - just eat a variety of foods to have a healthy balance of amino acids etc!. Too much of anything is not good!. Remember that too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No matter what I say here I go meatless for periods!. However I doubt very much if I would ever embrace the Vege label mainly because I know much of the propanganda that is put out here is false!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nothing is wrong with you!. People change over time!. You aren't vegetarian if you're still eating meat, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yeah, that was probably the main reason for me, then as I started looking into food and nutrition because my daughter wanted to go vegetarian I found more and more reasons that supported not liking it much anymore!. Now health, environment, budget, and of course animal sensitivity are all part of the whole as well!.

I used to eat the meat first so I could enjoy the rest of the meal without it but I was unable to just waste it!. Lots easier to just not have it and I've been enjoying my food so much more now!. In fact, I can't even stand the idea of having a burger!.

Let it be what it is!. There's nothing wrong with you and there's plenty of protein in rice, veggies and beans!. And fiber too which meat doesn't have!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have never understood the point of being a vegetarian or vegan or whatever!. Whether you're eating plants or animals, you're still killing living things and eating them to keep yourself alive!. Some animals are cute, and it's gruesome to watch them being slaughtered, I'll give you that!. But if atheist liberals are correct and animals have no souls, then they're really on the same level as a carrot!. So just kill them quickly and eat them!. But animals feel pain!.!. so how do you know plants don't!? Why do some of them have thorns and stickers to keep people and animals away!? Trees bleed sap, right!? My philosophy is, no matter what I eat, something had to die to fill my plate, so I eat what I want!. Besides, if I eat too many fruits or veggies in one day, I get a serious case of the farts, and as entertaining as that is, it's uncomfortable!. I'm not going to change my lifestyle for some belief that I don't share!. When I walk by a restaurant or bbq and smell those steaks sizzling on the grill, I can't help it, my mouth waters, not my eyes for the poor cow!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Alot of vegetarians say they don't like the taste of meat but I think they're liars!. It's like saying you're allergic to something when you're not because you don't want to give the long answer!. Not sure what's going on with you!.!. perhaps there's a deeper underlying reason for your avoidance of meat!. There's nothing wrong with eating less meat though!. Meat should be a luxury item!. Eating lots of grains, legumes and inexpensive fresh vegetables is a good way to save money and be healthy!. It's not odd you passed on the steak!. I eat only high quality organic steaks myself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

personally, i did the SAME thing!. i've only been a vegatarian for about 3 weeks, but i had just decided to try something new and gave up meat!. i've lost the taste for it all together, leaning towards fruits and veggies and soy products!. my friends don't get it and say it doesn't count because i dont go around screaming at them about killing cows, instead i cook their food for them!. /\_/\

i know that nothing I do will personally change anything, but if it does i'm all for it!. so i think we're basically the only people like this!. go us! *hands a cookie*Www@FoodAQ@Com
