Answers:
Nonsense!. There is some kind of smear campaign about soy alleging that soy causes cancer, hypothyroidism, feminizing of men, dementia and probably a few other things I'm not thinking of!.
Think logically; has any other food item ever caused so many different health problems!? I can't think of any!. A diet high in saturated fat or sodium might cause health problems, for example, but that only occurs when they are in excessive amounts!. Many people will eat the same things in moderation and be perfectly healthy!.
My wife is a Registered Dietitian, I have gone to several continuing education conferences with her in the last 15 years!. These conferences are basically lectures about current issues in nutrition and health!. The speakers are usually medical doctors, scientists and various health care professionals!. If soy was such a dangerous thing, why has there been no mention of it in any reputable healthcare/nutrition conference or continuing education program I have ever attended or heard of!?
The web sites with the misinformation about soy are generally done by people with questionable credentials!. No Medical Doctors, no Registered Dietitians!. The "credentials" are usually something like "Internationally Known Expert On Soy!." Really!? According to whom!?
The only physician I have ever heard of who is known for spreading soy misinformation is an Osteopath who has been sued by the FDA for making unsubstantiated claims about nutritional supplements he is selling (which is really a pretty questionable thing for a doctor to be doing in the first place)!.
None of these scary stories about soy are supported by the American Medical Association, the American Dietetic Association or the FDA!.
People who support the ideas will often say there is a "government conspiracy!." That is a time honored tactic of people want to make unsubstantiated claims; complain that they are being suppressed by a conspiracy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
