Why do people who aren't vegetarians answer questions in this section?!

Question: Why do people who aren't vegetarians answer questions in this section!?
I would love to know why people who aren't vegan/vegetarian answer questions in this section!? If you aren't a vegan/vegetarian then you aren't informed on the subject!. I think people who do this just do it to make fun of us and to be as obnoxious as they can!. I think it is funny how ignorant they are!. It really bothers people who are meat eaters that a lot of people choose not to eat meat!. It bothers my family immensely!. They thought it was just a phase that I was going through!. So after three years have gone by they finally shut up because they saw that I was serious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You go girl! I agree! But what I hate is when they say "I have every right to say what I want on here" or "Freedom of speech!" Ugh

I am getting tired of the omnivores/carnivores who keep making fun of us, trying to bother us, trolling around, posting mean things, etc!. They think that they're going to prove us wrong and that we might think of being a meat eater again!. Keep on dreaming bloody flesh eaters!

I have nothing against meat eaters, but I will have something against them if they keep hating on us vegetarians/vegans!. I don't care whether they're a meat eater or not, if they're friendly and caring then they're wonderful people I would love to stay friends withWww@FoodAQ@Com

I think the reason people get 'defensive' is when people like you, say things like

"I think people who do this just do it to make fun of us and to be as obnoxious as they can!."

Why do people who are vegetarians attack people who eat meat!? It can go both ways, by the way you posted this question, I rest my case when I say vegan/vegetarians are shallow, narrow minded f****!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As a caterer who has worked for major vegan organizations who takes that responsibility very seriously!. I feel qualified to answer vegetarian and vegan questions!. It must be annoying to have what do they call it "trolls" answering questions!. Just keep doing what is right for you and ignore the ignorant peeps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think people think this topic is!.!.!. "easy"!.

It is completely true!. Some omnivores are very knowledgeable!. Others are just standing up for something they believe in!. If you aren't educated, though, you shouldn't answer at all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am very informed on the subjects that I post to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are a number of points to answer here!.

Any YA user can answer any question in any section, and all questions appear on the main page for all to see when they're first posted!. Many people answer questions on subjects they know nothing about, and this can be much more serious than on V&V; questions in all the Diseases categories are answered all the time by people with no experience or knowledge of the disease concerned, which could potentially have very serious consequences!.

There are a few regular non-veg*n contributors to V&V who make an intelligent and welcome contribution; they may challenge misinformation or poke a ittle fun when people get pompous, but that's healthy!. Some of them are well-informed about nutrition!.

There are other regular non-veg*n contributors who give pointless, knee-jerk responses, all their claims of being informed on the subjects they post to notwithstanding!.

And it is certainly NOT true that just because someone is veg*n they are informed on the subject of veg*nism!. I'm vegan, I've been vegetarian for decades, and I find the misinformation that's often repeated on this board toe-curling sometimes!. I've lost count of the times I've seen the words 'studies show' or 'it's been proven', without any evidence or reference being given, even when the person saying it is challenged!. 'Meat causes cancer' is my favourite - no it doesn't, no food is proven to cause or contribute to cancer, though cancer specialists are prepared to say that a diet HIGH in meat MAY contribute to colo-rectal cancers!. I give this example to demonstrate that being vegetarian doesn't mean you're informed about vegetarianism!.

I share your distaste for all the people who come on here to say 'Eat meat' or 'Have a burger', but what can you do!? All YA sections are plagued with that sort of idiot,Www@FoodAQ@Com

First and foremost, this is an open forum!. Anyone can post here!. This is not yours!.

Have you seen the questions posted by vegtarians here!? the "what can I eat!?" (nevermind spelling vegetarian wrong) or "am I still a vegeetarian!.!." questions!? Does that sound like the vegtarian asker is informed!? Do cops have to be criminals first before they can be experts on crime!? Are politicians the only ones allowed to answer in Poitics!? Athiests cannot post in Religion!?

You are being presumptious and arrogant in your thoughts which makes me think you not not very well informed about people and society in general!. So basically, you don't belong here either!. How's that!?

PS I own a restaurant that also serves vegtarian cuisine!. I have answered questions that have been very informative to many vegetarians and vegans (check my best answers list)!. So I am more informed that you are!. Can I ask you to leave now!? Your combative and arrogant manner is something this forum can do without!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't come here looking for trouble!.!.!.!.I have many V friends, sometimes one of my contacts may post a question here!.!.!.if is an intelligent question that does not intend to offend people then I will usually offer advise based on what I know on the subject!.!.!.!.I have tried the diet/lifestyle before!.!.!.so I feel I can give an informed answer/advice!. I do usually end my answer with saying something like!.!.!.!.ask the V's for sure or something of that nature!.!.!.!.!.I only post answers on behalf of my contacts that have posted a question!. Support for any kind of lifestyle change is nice and sometimes appreciated!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First, I feel the need to tell you that I am a strict vegetarian!. I don't like the title 'vegan' - mention that down south and most think that you got a can of paint in your pocket just waiting to toss it on them!.!.!.!.!.!. Sorry if that offends - but it actually IS the truth!.

Second!. There are a host of people that post questions on here that if they would just use a simple search engine would find out the answers on their own!. Honest!. Try it yourself!. Pick an question that you don't know the answer for and see if you can't find the answer yourself using a search engine!. I WATCHED someone use that very method in my own home to answer questions that they really didn't know the answers to!. BUT - there is also a DOWN SIDE to that - as if you go to a site that is very slanted, information is totally pressing a particular one view over another - your not getting the whole picture!.

also, just because someone writes something doesn't mean that they really know the information personally!. I have told another person answers to questions about eating disorders - while never telling them how I knew the answers - I overcame an eating disorder!. But it helped one little girl on here that I even took the time to write to myself after the other did!. The other person got the "Best Answer" - but me getting that isn't my personal goal in life either!.

It has nothing to do with making fun of people!. Some people really get a thrill out of being somewhere on the list of 'Top Contributor' - that was the total quest of my ex!. Me - I am listed on it - and I will admit that I have friends that will vote for my answers!. But then my friends have also seen the day to day reality that I live and that I am not blowing smoke or just spouting something found off some website also - - I actually live it in my day to day life!. Because of this - I actually have had people ask me about how to start such an approach to eating - what to look out for - if it is right for them because of a medical condition that they have - etc!. etc!. etc!.

You are always going to have people not agree with choices that you make in life - be it the way that you dress - where you live or how you live - to what you eat - and more!. It doesn't matter!. What matters MOST is how you are within yourself - that you are the best person that YOU can be - that you are true and honest to the values that you say that you have!.

To those that attempt to cause problems - ignore them!. Sad to say - but the internet really very well is the only life that they have!. More than likely when and if you met that person in real life - your going to find out all sorts of lies that you have been told - and a host of others yet to be found out about the claims that they have made in emails and on the internet!.

So just enjoy your day to day life in the real world and the moments that you spend on the internet for entertainment and seeking information - just hope that the ones you write about one day grow up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

because they know something about vegetarianism maybe!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? seriously, think about your questions before you ask them!.

EDIT: and just because you arent a vegetarian or a vegan doesnt mean "you arent informed on the subject"!. i am not a vegan but i know that they do not eat anything that has anything to do with animals!. vegans do not eat eggs but vegetarians do if they choose!. also, vegans dont eat stuff like french fries cooked in animals fat and vegetarians do if they want to!. so ha! little miss smarty pants does not know everything after all!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't mind when people give uninformed and uneducated answers!. That just makes us regulars' answers look even better:) Majority rules!. Look for the most repeated answer!. If it doesn't sound right, it probably isn't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't mean to continue the trend, but I have to say that I don't know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
