What are the benefits of becoming a vegeterian or not eating red meat anymore for your body & health?!

Question: What are the benefits of becoming a vegeterian or not eating red meat anymore for your body & health!?
Im not a big fan of eating meat as it is unless its poultry or seafood & I even am a little leery about that!. Meat just kind of grosses me out, not to mention Im very against cruelty to animals & have seen some of the horrific videos about slaughter houses & farms w/ chickens, pigs, cows etc!.

I love vegetables & fruit & could definately & I occassionally eat eggs & dairy products, but not much!. Are you a vegetarian if you dont eat meat but eat dairy & egg products!?

And what are the benefits for your body & health if you stop eating red meat or meat all together!? Will you lose more weight that way!?

Any info is helpful!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
There are different types of vegetarians!. Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat eggs and dairy products, while vegans don't eat any animal products!. You wouldn't be considered vegetarian or vegan if you chose to eat fish, since fish are animals!.

There are too many health benefits to list here! The American Dietetic Association states that vegetarians have “lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; … lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer” and that vegetarians are less likely than meat-eaters to be obese!. To answer your other question, going vegetarian doesn't automatically guarantee weight loss; you could still eat tons of vegetarian junk food like cookies and French fries!. It is easier to lose weight if you eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains!. (I lost 20 pounds of flab when I went vegan!.)

I hope this helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

To one of your questions, there are different kinds of vegetarians!. The really strict ones don't eat any products from animals, including dairy and egg products!. The less strict ones will eat those, just not meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think there are health advantages, maybe spiritual advantages!.
Man was built to eat meat - notice your sharp teeth!.
In my experience vegetarians are one of two types:
Skinny and sick looking or obese from eating carbs ad nauseum!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is ridiculous to say that eating exclusively vegetables will keep you healthy forever but it does have a lot of benefits like lower blood pressure and less bad fat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The greatest benefit is anemia!. But there are others lurking there, too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cutting out meat, whether it is red meat or all meat, even all animal products, is beneficial for your health in many ways!.

By adopting a plant based, meat free diet, you are decreasing your risk of heart disease by alot!. Meat [and other animal products] are high in saturated fat, whereas plants have a significantly lower amount of saturated fat!. also, cholesterol is found only in animal products, so a vegetarian diet is cholesterol free, which is obviously great for your health!. Vegetarians consume more Omega 3 fatty acids which also reduces heart disease!.

Diabetes, obesity and several types of cancer are far less common in people following a vegetarian lifestyle!.

Eliminating meat from one's diet strengthens immunity, because nearly 80% of factory farmed animals are fed hormones and antibiotics to promote growth, this way the animals sell for more!.

I really hope I helped, because every vegetarian can make a differenceWww@FoodAQ@Com

Hello,
My diet is quite similar to yours!.!.!.I do not eat beef or pork ( haven't had it in 13 years)!. I eat poultry and seafood (some seafood, not everything)!. I was a lacto-vegetarian for 3 years (no meat, poultry, seafood just dairy) but I became weak and was always hungry!.!.!.!.I heard that supplements can help!. I was very anemic and had low protein which affected my hair and nails!. So, that's when I started back eating poultry and seafood which I like better and yes dairy! I was bored with my food choices when I was a lacto-vegetarian!. I lost weight but it wasn't healthy and I stayed bloated!.!.!.!.I have heard of people actually gaining weight from the carbs (pasta, rice) but that was not my personal experience!. Hope that I answered some of your questions!. Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The veges are of the opinion that they will live almost forever with no disease!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
