Should I become a vegan?!
I am a vegetarian right now, and I was wondering if I should become a vegan!. How is being a vegan better than being a vegetarian!? Or is it better!? What kinds of food can I eat!? What can't I eat!? Thanks for your help!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Yes, definitely go vegan!. It's better for your health, the environment, and the animals!.
Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do—to feed their babies!. “Dairy cows” are impregnated every year in order to keep up a steady supply of milk, and their babies are taken away from them within a day of birth!. The cows and their calves are treated horribly, with male calves crammed into the notoriously cruel veal crate!. If you’re consuming dairy products, you’re supporting the veal industry!.
Furthermore, milk is not a “health food!.” While dairy products are implicated in the development of heart disease and cancer, researchers at Harvard Medical School have found that they are also linked to osteoporosis, the very disease that the dairy products industry claims it can help prevent!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Dairy products aren't always good, so vegans can be healthier!. Sometimes when you stop eating dairy, it can reduce colds, flus or infections! The foods they eat are healthier!. If you crave dairy, you can get soy/rice milk or make vegan cheeses!. Plus, vegans save more animals!.

Milk
Eggs
Gluten
Gelatin
White sugar
Volaise
Vellum
Urea
Tallow
Suet
Squalene
Squalane
Rennet
Albumen

I hope this helps!. =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegans do not eat ANY animal products!. No meat, no dairy, no eggs, and for most!.!.!.!. no honey!. This excludes most commercially baked goods, lattes, frappucinos, and other stuff that is intricately woven into our american diets!.
I am currently making the transition to veganism!. I have always wanted to be vegan!.!.!. but before, I did not have the willpower!. Now I am armed with an arsenal of tasty vegan recipes, most of which I have learned over many years of being a vegetarian!. This is very important!. The last time I tried to go vegan (seven years ago) it was a futile attempt---I barely knew how to cook, and all I had was a bunch recipe books filled with foods that I hated!.
I think that, the most important thing is to learn how to cook tasty vegan food!. Start trying different recipes, work with them and tweak them to your preferences!.
I have found that ethnic foods usually have a MUCH better selection of tasty vegan recipes than american foods!.
My favorites:
South Indian cuisine (esp andhra food)
Thai cuisine
Middle eastern cuisine

There are thousands of vegan recipes listed on VegWeb, and most of them have been rated by the people who have tried them!. I always pick recipes that have four or five stars, and then read recommendations people have made!.
Best Vegan Cheese:
Follow Your Heart is a GREAT substitute for those items you cook that MUST have cheese in them!.
Substitute for Yogurt:
Kombucha!.!.!. tastes like vineger, but will give you the probiotic goodness of yogurt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Going vegan is a decision only you can make, but yes, I definitely recommend it! There's a lot of animal cruelty & confinement in the egg and dairy industries so veganism is an even more effective way of helping to prevent animal suffering!. Veganism is also healthier because cholesterol is only found in animal products like meat, eggs, and dairy!.
You can eat fake meats that don't contain eggs or dairy!. There are vegan versions of milk, cheese, cream cheese, mayo, butter, ice cream!.!.!. you name it! Here's a list of popular vegan products: http://www!.vegcooking!.com/guide-favs!.asp
A well-balanced vegan diet also includes fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains!.
My favorite vegan foods include:
-Mac & cheese, grilled cheese, quesadillas, and pizza!.!.!. just use soy cheese instead!
-Subs with Tofurky Deli Slices and Veganise (vegan mayo)
-Pasta, tomato sauce, and Nate's Meatless Meatballs
-Gardenburger Meatless Riblets
Lots of vegan food ideas here:

In terms of what not to eat, I would just avoid eggs (including egg albumin) and dairy!.!.!. don't worry about the marginal ingredients!. Veganism isn't about personal purity; it's about trying to make choices that reduce suffering!.
