Answers:
No, it's not hypocritical!.
You can be vegetarian without wanting the extinction of all domestic animals (which is what PETA's agenda is)!.

In fact, if you're an animal lover, I recommend that you do **not** support PETA!.
Support groups that truly care about animals, such as the ASPCA (http://www!.aspca!.org/ ) and your local animal shelters!.

Sarah P,
Did you know that PETA has a history of trying to get healthy, adoptable animals from shelters just so they can euthanize them!? And that they try to get people to give their pets to PETA instead of legitimate animal shelters, promising the owners that they'll find the pet a good home, and then typically euthanize the pet before they even pull the van away from the house!?

By the way, that "ConsumerDeception" site is a PETA site that they made to try to look like a legitimate 3rd party!. ("PETA-Deception" would be a more appropriate name!.)

Lady Rae,
The numbers from PetaKillsAnimals are numbers that ** PETA themselves ** reported to the government!

The Great Leap,
Are you aware that ALF is a terrorist organization!? They are the ones that firebomb labs, and even was in the news recently for attacking people's houses!.

It's scary that so many people on here don't even have a grasp of what PETA is about!. Ignorance is not bliss!.
!.!.!. But I guess it makes sense seeing that's how PETA sustains their member numbers; by finding ignorant people to blindly support them!.

Well, being vegetarian doesn't mean you're a PETA supporter!. But it's kinda sad that you would turn against an animal rights organization and all of the important work it does, just because of a website made by meat industry representatives!.

Corporations that benefit from animal cruelty don't want PETA to be successful!. There are lots and lots of people and companies that are opposed to PETA!.!.!.!. fur stores, restaurants, dissection suppliers, animal circuses, leather stores, breeders, pet stores, rodeos, animal testing labs, and so on!. There are lots of people and companies that are working hard to spread harmful rumors about PETA!.

PETA believes that animals are not ours to eat, wear, perform experiments on, or use for entertainment!. You can be sure that no matter the situation, PETA does what is in the best interests of the animals!. Euthanasia is sometimes a kinder choice than letting an animal suffer or confining a homeless dog to a cage for years and years!. Whether or not you support PETA is your own choice!. I just don't like to see the meat industry and other anti-animal industries turn people against PETA!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's not hypocritical!. There are vegetarians who don't support PETA, just like there are meat-eaters who do support PETA!.

You should know that the anti-PETA site is very biased!. It is owned by a front group for the meat, alcohol, and tobacco industries!. The companies behind that site profit from animal suffering and are trying to slander PETA!. They hope to scare people away from supporting PETA by misrepresenting the vital work that PETA does for animals!. Go to http://consumerdeception!.com/ for more info!.

Some things that site left out:

*PETA does not run an adoption facility (it refers most adoptable animals to well-known shelters with a high rate of public traffic)!. For many of the animals PETA does accept—such as those who are severely injured, aggressive, or otherwise unadoptable—PETA is often a “shelter of last resort,” offering a humane death to animals who would otherwise suffer a slow and painful end!.

*Many of the animals PETA receives are broken beings for whom euthanasia is, without a doubt, the most humane option!. One example: When a power-line transformer explosion burned a flock of starlings, PETA was the only agency to come to the birds’ aid and offer the animals a painless escape from their suffering!.

*Unlike “no-kill” shelters, PETA does not refuse animals simply because euthanasia is the only humane option for them!. Many of the animals PETA takes in are given to PETA because they have been rejected by other facilities!. Many people contact PETA when they can't afford a vet to euthanize their sick animals or if the animals would suffer excessively being transported!.

*PETA and animal shelters are not responsible for the pet overpopulation crisis!. Pet stores, breeders, and irresponsible pet owners (who don't fix their pets) make euthanasia an unfortunate reality!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's a biased website!. I personally don't believe everything I read online!. I should hope that most people don't believe everything at face value!.

There are a lot of other organizations you can support!.!.!.alf, cok, and more!. Google animal cruelty organizations!.

You don't have to support PETA, but you have to do more research before you jump to conclusions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's not hypocritical!. Not every vegetarian supports PETA!.
You're vegetarian, but that doesn't mean you 'must' follow PETA!.

You are entitled to your views and opinions as is everybody!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, but you can't always believe everything you read on that site, just like any other place!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can be a vegetarian and not support Peta!. It's okay!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No more than supporting them would be stewpidWww@FoodAQ@Com
