What supplements should i take as a vegetarian?!


Question: What supplements should i take as a vegetarian!?
I am an 18 year old strict vegetarian!. I eat no meat including fish and chicken!. I don't eat eggs, no gelatin, no milk!. I will have an occasional yogurt and i do eat prepared meals with little bits of dairy or eggs!. I am close to being a vegan but not fully!. What vitamins or supplements should i take!? I have been a vegetarian for 3 years!. thank youuWww@FoodAQ@Com

Vitamin B12 is the most important thing that vegetarians cannot get from food, as it is only found in animal products!. You could either get a pill, eat fortified foods (check the nutrition facts label for b-12) such as cereal and bread, or take another supplement such as nutritional yeast, which is a good cheese substitute (tastes like parmesian) as well-

There is plenty of iron and zinc in nuts, plenty of vitamin B12 in vitamin B12 fortified soy milk and also plenty of calcium in calcium fortified soy milk!.

A multivitamin every day would probably be a good idea!. Besides that if you are into soy milk a zinc supplement should be taken every day as soy products hinder the absorption of zinc and you can lose up to 50% of your zinc intake every day!.

A web search for vegan + "health hazards" will tell you what traps you need to be aware of and how to deal with these problems!. This web search would also cover issues such as incomplete protein, complete protein and protein complementing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What are you eating in regards to raw fruits and veggies!? I read about all the animal products you still eat, but you don't mention produce!.

I used to work in a health store and was able to get all kinds of free samples for supplements,etc!. It turned me off to them because they made me feel bad! I do not believe in taking dead pills that are isolated in their various nutrients!. Enzymes are very important, along with the combination of many nutrients working together synergistically!. For instance, citrus fruits contain vitamin C!. However, there are something called bioflavonoids which accompany vitamin C (which is sythetic in the supplements!) and even when they have both together, they still don't acknowledge the other elements in a piece of fruit which help absorb the nutrients, as well as work alongside!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have been a veggie for 14 years and take nothing other than 1 multivitamin a day!. The only thing we may miss is B-12!.!.!.but you can get that in lots of other ways!. Don't listen to everybody that hollers at you about protein!.!.!.there is tons of protein in foods other than meat, and most americans eat way too much protein anyway!. If you stick to a balanced diet of fruits, veggies, whole grains, tofu, and nuts/beans, you will be just fine!

didu know wat makes it gummy is something called bovine or porcine and it comes from pig, calf and other like the bison !? its the part of the intestine that makes it gummy!.!.!.same thign with gum

As long as you get enough protein, iron, and calcium, you shouldn't need supplements!. ;] Beans, nuts, seeds, leafy vegetables, tofu, seitan, fortified soymilk, and cereal should keep you covered!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
