We have been making meat in laboratories for years!. The main use being to patch up burn victims!. The problem is making safe inexpensive meat!. No one is going to pay $50,000 for one fake stake!. The money would be better spent genetically altering the soybean plant to produce synthetic meat!.
Personally I think it's just another publicity stunt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

they can offer it because they now no one can can up with it thus saving them a million dollars but getting the publicity which is what they really wanted in the first place!.
Seriously, why would omnivores indulge Peta's lunacy by eating test tube meat and what makes Peta think it is the solution to the meat eating problem, something which is not a problem at all!?
Its like offering a billion dollars if someone can go to Mars in a home made space vehicle!. it just won't happen!. Peta should also offer a million dollars to those who can grow vegetables and fruits in a test tube so that farmers won't have to destroy natural animal habitat in favor of farms for human consumption!.
Then Peta should also come up with money to offer to the millions of people who will be out of work because their livelihoods have been replaced by test tubes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It sounds like an urban legend that PETA is offering the money for it!. For one, PETA is against all animal testing, and obviously producing meat in a laboratory would require much animal testing-- collecting DNA, studying the tissue growth, etc!.
also, it's already been done!. Meat tissue already HAS been grown in a lab!. The technology exists; it's just not yet practical to sell it because there is no market for it and it's still much, much more expensive to produce than the meat produced from live animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd love that and I'd hate it at the same time!. I became vegetarian because I believe we as Americans slaughter animals in excess!. I see nothing wrong with the consumption of meat, it is technically what we humans were meant to do!. (I mean no offense to anyone who is vegetarian by religion or other reason!) I use my lifestyle as a protest to the senseless slaughter of animals when we don't need to, and the inhumane conditions they are born into, just to be slaughtered when old enough!. So if meat was made in a laboratory, without senseless and cruelly killing an animal, that would be great, but if and ONLY IF, it did not humiliate or demean or torture an animal in the process and also that it is safe and healthy for human consumption!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
yuck!.!.eww!.disgusting!!! no way, would i ever eat meat grown in a labrotory!. it sounds horrible!. i became a vegetarian for ethical reasons, but still, there has to be animals harmed in the process of everything, and all the chemicals and hormones in my body!. no thanks, ill take being a vegetarian anyday!.and p!.s!. just think, like i said before, there has to be animals harmed in the process!. because the scientists need animal dna to begin with to begin creating the meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think it's a very good initial incentive to get people working on technology to do create living tissue that resembles meat (or in fact, is meat)!.
However, I think 1 million dollars is a very very small amount of money and I doubt scientists would be doing it for PETAs money!. They have already been developing this technology before PETA even introduced their reward!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I can't see why PETA supports torchering animals in a lab to make something frivolous like fake meat that people won't eat but not to make new drugs!.
Unless they are a bunch of idiots that think cells are going to be made from scratch the way God did and not taken from animal tissue samples!. If that's the case I understand why they support it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

weird!.!.!.!.!. but good for the animals! =DWww@FoodAQ@Com
I think the idea of engineered meat is interesting and i get why PETA supports it!. On a side note, I think PETA is a radical fringe organization with little common sense and view of the big picture!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
