Question to PETA supporters? It's ok to kill animals? But not ok to eat meat?!

Question: Question to PETA supporters!? It's ok to kill animals!? But not ok to eat meat!?
I really don't know!. It's confusing to me!. I'm thinking of joining but I'm really confused on PETA's mission!. This video shows a PETA worker admits that PETA kills hundreds of pets every year!.

What's the point of PETA!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
One poster comes up with the stock answer PETA comes up with every time it gets into trouble!. Look at this posters answer about PETA and you can see it is identical!.

Another would like you to believe PETA is some sort of 24 hour good Samaritan you can rely on!. Like some sort of superhero who suddenly shows up whenever an animal is in trouble somewhere!. Ironically, one of the first excuses PETA made when they were caught killing and dumping helthy animals was that they did not have enough time or funds to handle the animals properly!. 24/7 dial up number!? Yeah right!.

Fact is you already know all the information you need!. PETA would rather kill pets than help find them good homes!. PETA boss Ingrid Newkirk has always maintained that they would like to see the end of pet ownership!. And the back door way by which PETA achieves this ultimate goal is to either spay animals (which is admittedly a good thing) or euthanize them as soon as they are in PETAs hands!.

You an go to this website : www!.nokillnow!.com for first hand info from FORMER PETA members, not PETA paid publicity hacks that are common in this forum!.

I would advise you to do the research your own!. Search for "Ingrid Newkirk quotes" to give you an insight of what the PETA boss thinks!. That's a start!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do not agree with PeTA's stance that all hunting is cruel activity!.

PeTA euthanizes animals because there are not nearly enough homes for all of the cats and dogs born each year!?

Who is to blame for these animals being put to sleep!? PeTA employees are the ones that have to carry it out but the people that are too lay or refuse to have their pets spayed or neutered are responsible for this end result!.

What do people expect to be done!? People often mention how deer overpopulation leads to animals being hit by vehicles!. The same would happen if we dumped 5 million homeless animals in the street or the wild EVERY YEAR!.

The animals would just be hit by cars, attacked by other animals, slowly die of disease or starve to death!.

There are numerous other reasons to dislike PeTA even if you're vegan, but pointing out the number of animals that they HELP by giving them a peaceful death is just pathetic and disgusting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not really that big on PETA myself!. Some of their campaigns are a little ridiculous, really!. But, I do realize that they are probably the biggest group supporting animal rights, and they get the idea of animal rights out to a lot of people, so I like them for that!. In their defense, there are a lot of animal shelters that euthanize a large percentage of the animals they take in!. However, since PETA is such a big organization, and they definitely don't have any financial problems, I don't quite understand why they can't afford to keep the animals at their shelter!. So overall, I can respect them, but I would rather be associated with more serious animal rights groups!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

PeTA deals with situations that shelters neve deal with!. Once PeTA helped with a hoarding situation in Newport News where a woman had 47 cats!. These cats were feral, sick, old, injured, had FIV, parasites, mites, were drained of their blood by ticks, etc!.!.!. In cases like these, euthanasia is the most humane option!.

PeTA also operates a 24/7 pager!. See a cat get hit by a car on a Sunday afternoon and no vets or shelters are open!? PeTA will come out and humanely euthanize the animal!.

PeTA isn't an animal shelter and doesn't run an adoption facility!. PeTA refers adoptable animals to well-known shelters with a high rate of public traffic!. Basically PeTA deals with the worst of the worst situations!.

Euthanasia is a compassionate way to put animals out of their misery!. Raising and slaughtering animals for food creates more misery for animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know what their deal is, but I would never join them!. The fact that they killed all those animals is terrible!. It's worse than eating animals because at least when they are eaten the animal doesn't go to waste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Farmers do not plant with the reason to feed starving people around the world!.

Someone else is KILLING, because he wants your MONEY!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

To me, Peta has lost all credibility!.

Why can they be reasonable about euthanizing animals yet when I chose to keep a pet, they hound me about the overpopulation of cats!.

I sprayed and neutered my cat!. He is a happy, spoiled brat and my family loves him!. it hurts my heart that people who are supposed to look out for animal welfare are more upset that the cat was domesticated than the fact that it needs a home!.

edit- Silver that bombardment of information does not negate the fact that the question asked and the information given IS true!. While I doubt that it was created by the meat industry, even if it was, it is true!. What is more, your info does not address the tactics used by Peta and the provocative ( and often violent) media used to spread their world view is not only one sided, but completely ineffective!. Sure you may convince a few liberal teenagers, but what about the rest of the world!?!?

Peta has a video showing the horrors of muling sheep!. They don't even tell why the practice is in use!. ( and the effectiveness) What are people to think when they find out they didn't get the full story from Peta!. They may wonder what else are they hiding from me!?!? What else has been embellished!?!? I want to believe in Peta!. Right now, I can't!. They have burned me too many times!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What you've found is something put together and put out by an industry insider and lobbyist for the meat, fish, dairy, restaurant and alcohol people among others he's worked for including big tobacco!.

The industry is so afraid of PETA that they started trying to address PETA in deceptive, rumor-mongering, smear tactic ways which includes the ridiculous PETA "kills" site (and many others now) that often gets stated on Y!A as a "source" (the same PETA haters seem to answer all the PETA related questions on Y!A sometimes even asking their own loaded questions)!.

So it's the scam astroturf organizations created by the industry and a DC lobbyist for those same industries spreading the rumors about PETA!.

The background info on that is:

Peta Kills, Activist Cash, Animal Scam are all industry groups in sheep's clothing from the same profit-driven DC industry lobbyist!. Those are Rick (Richard) Berman groups, under "Center for Consumer Freedom" aimed at discrediting and marginalizing organizations such as PETA!. Among some of his other pursuits is Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Greenpeace and more!. In fact, anything that opposes his clients which include cigarette companies!.

Who does Berman work for!? He works for Monsanto, The meat, dairy, restaurant industries, the fishing industry, Wal-Mart, Tyson, Cargill, Dean Foods, big tobacco, the soda industry and the beer and alcohol industries among others!.

Some of his scamming astroturf groups!?

Funny he names his groups after scam so much since he is such a scammer!. It's an abusive tactic where those who are the most guilty point at others!. The other goofy thing is he claims to reveal funding for other groups (with his special spin) but won't let anyone see anything regarding his own funding!.

Richard Berman is known as "Dr!. Evil" (and he relishes that nick but I like to call him, Beezlebub)!. He starts "charitable" groups such as Obesity Myths, or Fish Scam then solicits donations via advertising in such places as Reader's Digest and bus shelters!. The begging ads are spreading the ideas the industries want you to believe at the same time!. It's all about deception and you are the target, played for a fool to become their victim (especially if you send the millionaire money believing he's a legit charity)!.

But then it gets even worse!. The "charities" which get most of their money from the industries themselves such as Phillip Morris and Coca-Cola, then hire Richard Berman's consulting group, Berman & Co!. to put together the campaigns!. So, essentially he has drummed up his own business out of scamming all while manipulating the government rules, tax structures and the general public!.

Notice how if you do a search on PETA anywhere who the sponsors are of the search or even the questions here about PETA!.

Just found one of the tag team postings of Berman's group a few days ago on the Boston Globe website!. David Martosko works for Berman's scam operations as the "Director of Research" and is actually in the Penn & Teller anti-Peta episode (that Penn & Teller are that easily manipulated and/or shills in the pockets of big industry helping them to play us for fools has caused me to lose all respect for them -- better fools than tools)!. Oh, and further!.!.!. Dave is the featured actor in the film "Your Mommy Kills Animals" which they funded as well!.

Under Dave Martosko who is mocking Greenpeace at the Boston Globe is a comment by Gavin Gibbons commenting for the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) which is another industry front group!. He is ironically attempting to throw doubt on a poster by saying that poster is making ad hominems even as his buddy Dave above has made one after another about Greenpeace!. This time they're trying to obscure the issue of the collapse of the fish stocks in our oceans but they've also been very active trying to get people to believe there is no fish and mercury issues or PCBs/Dioxins (Monsanto uh-ohs) in fish and Berman's groups and the NFI even tried to convince pregnant women that the harm from mercury isn't worth having mentally delayed children (trying to scare us) which they say can be avoided by eating even more fish (on that one they tried to claim the March of Dimes was behind them but the March of Dimes had no idea and was not impressed about being co-opted)!.

See, they can't fight the groups like PETA and Greenpeace on facts so they try to do it through mocking and smear campaigns!. That the industries would resort to these tactics shows just how much more scummy they are and how afraid they are you'll find out the truth about how they work and all because they just won't address any of the issues (that might cost money)!.

Berman's group under an entirely new incarnation has even been caught in the last few weeks spreading rumors in an attempt to get Gordon Smith re-elected as a senator not just prior to the primaries but the day after with full page ads in newspapers across Smith's home state trying to obscure truth about Smith's opponent with mudslinging divorced from Smith having to say he approves of the ad!.

The problem with groups like Berman's is everyone who deals in it has to constantly watch their back because those are the types who eat their own!.

PETA itself does lots of great things!. They started out for the animals and not eating them is secondary in that it's not about being vegan for health but because that's what is best for the animals!. So they support that and educate people about the diet and work with companies to get veg*n friendly foods made!. Would it make sense to encourage people to eat meat while exposing animal cruelty!?

But they also are given animals that other people won't take!. A "No Kill" shelter is great but currently with the housing crisis people are giving up their homes and having to move into apartments that won't allow their animals!. But, there's a 400 person waiting list in my local area to surrender an animal to the "No Kill" shelter!. A "No Kill" shelter also refuses animals that aren't adoptable!.

PETA gets animals taken to them which are in extremely poor health and can't be placed!. So, yeah they do arrange for painless and humane euthanization where needed rather than painful, drawn-out, senseless death!. They haven't even approached in all their years what just the one county where I live has to do every single year by law!.

An estimated 4 to 6 million dogs and cats are euthanized in America's animal shelters each year because they are not wanted by anyone, anywhere!. We used 5 million to be safe!. (Reference: HSUS Pet Overpopulation)

Meanwhile there are 10 Billion (that's Billion with a B) food animals slaughtered every single year just in the United States with 25 Billion killed each year for human consumption (that's correct, the US munches down nearly half of the world's meat with not even a third of the population of India which is just one country of at least 189)!. Over 90% of these animals in the US are raised in abysmal conditions so bad many of them die before making it to slaughter!.

There are a couple people on here claiming PETA wants to abolish domestic animals but that's a dramatization of the goals!. PETA wants an end to puppy mills and overpopulation/indiscriminate breeding too!. They are about adoption and rescue not special breeding or allowing a cat to have a litter just cause!.!.!. Why make even more when there's not nearly enough homes for the ones already here!?

And yes, they've done some things that some people consider extreme such as celebrities posing nude (but not full frontal nor exploitive as some make it seem) but that has managed to get the publicity that gets the organization in the news and further spreads the message about how poorly animals are treated in this country!. That's what scares the industry!. PETA has been effective!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
