As a vegan/vegitarian, what would you do if you could get no more wheat, oats, or barley?!

Question: As a vegan/vegitarian, what would you do if you could get no more wheat, oats, or barley!?
You also could get no other grains, like rice, from a foreign country!?

I'm asking this question, because of the Ug99 wheat rust!. A serrious disease!. It not only kills wheat but also oats and barely!. So when it hits countries like India and China there will be zero export of rice!.

How will you be able to keep a healthy diet!? Will you store grains!? What do you see the potential impact to your life as being!?

Ug99 kills more than 3/4ths of the wheat crops it infect!. Over 90% of the wheat grown is fully suceptible to Ug99!. The other 10% can only fend it off partial, and still have serrious loss of crop!.

Ug99 IS going to be a major famine causer!. So how will it effect you!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
1st - there are more veggies in India than meat eaters!. and most of the folks i know in India eat rice more often than any of the grains you mentioned!. also there are many other grains!. alot of rice is being grown here in states, ther is a very nice one called "Texmati" Basmati rice grown in Texas!. there is also Quinoa-very light and tastey grain!. most Americans are dairy logged & wheat logged anyway!. we ( meaning in my home ) have been buying in bulk & storing dry goods for over 20 yrs anyway!. another alternate grain is pretty good called "Spelt" - a heavier, more wheat-like grain!. the reason it would cause a famine is cuause there would not be enough to feed all the livestock: " about 40% of land n western U!.S!.is used for grazing of beef cattle!. About half the world's grain is consumed by animals that are later slaughtered for human consumption, 85%of corn in U!.S!. goes to livestock as does 95% of the oats, 56% of all agricultural land in U!.S!. is used for the production of Beef for humans to eat!. so my point is made!. oh and thanks for excellent update on that nasty Ug99!. i wish you well, :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd probably pray and plead that people stop eating meat, because it requires all the more grain and water, just thrown down the toilet, to make meat!. From birth to slaughter, it averages 16 pounds of grain and 2,500 gallons of water invested into the animal in order to produce a final ONE pound of meat!. So hopefully we can eliminate the Western hemisphere's cruel clutch on the natural resources of most of the globe in order to have meat all day, every day!. That way, whatever grain is left can be used to feed people!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If that happens, I'm sure we would stop Ethanol production in the US right away for one thing!. Since most of the corn grown in the US is feed corn and thus highly ineffecient as a source for human food, I'm sure corn production in Iowa and the surrounding states would be switched to soy!. As meat prices would skyrocket, there would be a lot more vegitarians, and soy would become a much bigger part of everyone's diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

IF your able to, have a garden start now !I have been a vegetarian for 25 years we eat lots of ORGANTIC SOY PRODUCTS or NO GMO in the product I'm eating the USA is the leading grower of soy, in China they eat DOGS they raise them for that purpose, they eat many things that crawl because they have eaten this way for centuries half Americans DO NOT eat enough wheat or whole grains as it is when American people start to eat more grains than Ill think about your question not to worry nowWww@FoodAQ@Com
