Do you consider PETA a cult or a brainwashing institution?!

THE TRUTH!.

Um to the person who says they "have" to put down cats and dogs, I don't think you'd kill a person because of overpopulation!. I am an animal lover, and this (peta) is NOT a good thing!.

Seriously!. Read the website!. They're violent, brainwashing, hypocritical, JERKS!. Never support them!. There are plenty of GOOD animal rights organizations!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

PETA is an organization driven by its own objectives just like any other organization that exists!. While its stated mission is "Total Animal Liberation" and it professes to "care" about animal welfare, its actions have actually diverted the attention of people from the real issue "animal cruelty" to the antics of its "campaigns" and to the ever expanding ego of its leader!. Even in this forum, filled with anti-meat industry activists, PETA is an unpopular group!.

Is it a cult!? Its organization seems to follow the footsteps of North Korea's Kims (elder and the current younger) which is referred to as a "cult fo personality" wherein the leader, in PETAs case Ingrid Newkirk, pretty much dictates everything!.
Is it a brainwashing institution!? It does follow a system where visual images, cliches and slogans dominate the "education" of its current and prospective members!. Repetitive and easy to remember one liners, reminiscent of fascist or authoritarian states are also a trademark!. (like commercials on tv)

How do they recruit!? Mostly through "shock" videos in sites like YouTube or their own websites (like the "kid friendly" peta2!.org), subsidiary and associate groups and organizations etc etc!. One tactic was to harass kids going to and from school (some as young as 6 years old) with literature disguised as comic books but filled with unsuitable material!.
You can read up on PETA through several websites but this one is my recommendation:
www!.nokillnow!.com
Just follow the links

You can also "google" "Ingrid Newkirk quotes" to get an insight into the (lunatic!?)mind of PETAs leader!. Again follow the linksWww@FoodAQ@Com

It's not a cult!. Exposing cruelty is not brainwashing!. Giving people the hard facts about what goes on in slaughterhouses is not brainwashing!. They may over dramatize things in their protests but it's to get people's attention and the simple fact that Peta's work made me and many others turn towards vegetarianism means they're doing something right!. They're not perfect and they have made their mistakes but I believe in what they stand for!.

About those site!.!.Yes, Peta euthanizes many cats and dogs!.!. why!? Because they're the ones that have to deal with the dirty work!. They're the ones that respond to emergency situations where there is little choice but putting the animals down!. They also help animals find homes but it's not always possible!. There are much more homeless pets that will never find homes than people looking for a pet!. It's just a simple fact and they have to deal with it the only way they can and that is by euthanizing them in the most humane way possible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

PETA started out with good intentions a long time ago!. I think I remember first hearing about them over 20 years ago!. They were mostly concerned with the welfare of pets and other animals kept in captivity!.
Then they started going crazy with the fur industry throwing paint on the coats of women wearing furs and getting really unruly in their protests!.
They started recruiting celebrities to expound on the horrors of the meat industry and other types of animal-related businesses!. There was a lot of stuff they made up and still make up!. They got into spying and undercover stuff and I think too many egos have taken a good thing down!.
Now I think they take advantage of young, impressionable young people and fill their minds with a lot of crap via the internet!.
It has gotten out of hand and that's sad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

An organization!.
PETA is giving information on how the things you eat LIVED!.
Most people don't care I guess!. Quite frankly, I don't, I'm vegetarian and I CAN'T eat meat!.
I feel bad for the animals who are produced, since that is what they are!. Animals growing up to be eaten are produced, they are objects, hurt them do whatever!. People don't see them as lifeforms, they see them as food!. That is not very human (more commonly I call it ubuntu (humanity to others)), and THAT is what PETA want people to know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cult: A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader!.

PeTA is a nonprofit, not a cult!.

The main objective of PeTA is to advocate for animal rights and stop animal cruelty/suffering!. PeTA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment!.

PeTA gets new members by advertising on its website and sending mailings, tabling at events!.!.!. same as other charities!.

(I wouldn't be surprised if many of the "ex-members" were actually anti-animal rights people in disguise!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

PETA is a non profit organisation concerned with the welfare of animals!.

While they do have some good points, they tend to do themselves more harm than good with their extremist views!.

I personally have issues with the stance that you shouldn't have companion pets!. One of my dogs is from a shelter and would probably have been put down if I hadn't adopted him!. Two of my cats are strays that moved in!. I had no say in it, they chose me!. They are all well looked after, and have a better life then they would if they were roaming free!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no, i think its a organization!.
it recruits people by having other people tell other about it, like at warped tour there were people while we were in line telling us about it and getting us to sign petitions!.
PETA's main objective is to aid in ending animal crueltyWww@FoodAQ@Com

PETA is saving animals from torture!. That's the point of it!. Animals have feelings and don't want to be tortured!. That's why PETA stands for People for the ethical treatment of animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its very extremeist, but a great resource for people trying to come vegetarian or vegan, however, i feel like many of their beliefs are way to extreme!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you've already made up your mind about PETA just like like exsft above did before actually thinking about what PETA stands for!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

PETA tries to make people understand that animal testing, murdering, torturing is bad!.
i love peta
(:Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cults and brainwashing are synonymous!.
Cults can't exist without some degree of brainwashing or other control mechanisms!.
Is PETA a cult!?
Probably not!.
More likely just a group of militant nutjobs that don't have sense enough to eat as has been provided for us!.
They probably don't "recruit" as there are generally plenty of like minded individuals to gather with and share their commonality!.
You can find more about their stated objectives at their website but you'll also find (as with many other organizations) that many of their so called members harbor some very hostile and extremist points of view!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes and Yes They recruit mostly teenie boppers with little sense of perspective The main objective first is to get money after that they want to turn all animals loose on an unsuspecting public!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

is it ok to spank an animal during sex, or is that cruel!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
