I'm 16 and i want to become vegetarian?!

Question: I'm 16 and i want to become vegetarian!?
how do i tell my mom and have her take me seriously!?

also, she's not the kind of person who would make meals differently (like using vegetarian "meat" instead) just for one person, so what should i do when they have a bbq or burgers for lunch/dinner!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just walked up and told my mom one day!. "Hey, mom, what would you think if I became vegetarian!?"!. Her response was, "Ok, that's fine, but we're having chicken for dinner tonight!. What are you having!?" lol!.

Anyway, with the whole meal thing, I usually just make myself some salad, heat up some leftovers, boil some spaghetti or have rice and beans (I pre-make a couple of meals on weekends and then freeze them--just in case my mom makes burgers or something)!.

Being veggie is really easy! Best of luck!. :^)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, do you have a job or some kind of income!? If so I'd suggest purchasing some foods for yourself that aren't meat products!.

You can also ask your Mom to not mix foods together!. For example: If she's making chicken stir-fry ask her to keep some rice separate for you, or to put the chicken on the side!.

She may not take you seriously at first, but actions speak louder than words!. She'll see you aren't eating meat over time and may be more likely to cater to you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

She should take you seriously anyways, since you're 16!.
I was 13 1/2 when I chose to become a vegetarian, and I've continued till today [almost 2 1/2 years]!.

My mum doesn't make seperate meals either!. I'd try making my own food if I were you!. Have her at least buy you boca burgers/sausages, and other things you find you might need; and then make it yourself for dinner/breakfast!.
For breakfast, though, Morning Star makes these really delicious wrap things and they're soooo good!. I'm sure you'd fall in love with them just like I have!.

She'll take you seriously, don't worry!.
And if she doesn't, then just pick everything that's vegetarian in meals she makes and eat those instead of the non-vegetarian stuff!. Then she'll get the idea!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just tell her politely but firmly!. Make it clear that you have researched the issue and made a final decision, and this is a personal decision, not some fad you want to go along with!.
You'll just have to be accommodating with food, but it's not a big deal!. You get vegetarian burgers, for example, so you can always cook yours on the BBQ when everyone else is cooking theirs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

get a job so you can buy your own food and then it wouldnt be a problem really!. veggie burgers are good for bbqs and you can throw them on the grill , clean off a spot for you or put it on tin foil and or make it in the microwave!. and then eat the normal sides your mom makes!.
i dont think it should be awkward when you tell her!.!.!.!. just be like "i really wantto do this for my health and animals!. i can understand you not wanting to be inconvienced but it'd be a lot healthier for me" you can make the burgers yourself and you are 16 so can cook recipes too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with kelsey!. You just have to tell her!.

It wouldnt hurt to offer to make dinner a couple nights a week!.

www!.vegcooking!.com is a good site for recipes!.

Prepare food for yourself if you know ahead of time it may be hard for you to find something to eat!. Pasta with marina is always good!. Pasta with oil/margarine and sun-dried tomatoes and other veggies(steamed) is good too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well it's not really a big deal, just tell her that you chose to be a vegetarian, and i'm sure your old enough to make yourself something to eat that doesn't involve meat!.

my friend is a vegetarian and she just choses not to eat meat, even when her parents her stuff with meat!.

good luck! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

thats awesome!. its something you will never regret!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
